My mother and I have shopped at Talbots for 30+ years. I typically go to Oak Brook and the outlet mall location --the store in Naperville was closed since they lost their lease. Naperville is a bustling, affluent suburb of 150,000 with a very supportive business community. It is a very competitive business environment. I went to the Talbots north in Wheaton today looking for one thing in attempt to save time since it was near my destination. The store is located in a run-down shopping center that is 70 percent vacant. I walked in the store, quickly trying to find what I was looking for--the retail associate was rude and made me feel unwelcome asking me what I wanted. I felt like she was following me--I am not quite sure how you can mistreat a 50-year-old SAHM. Just horrible. I have never experienced such awkwardness in any of the Talbots stores that I have visited from coast to coast. What a disappointment. The sales ladies in Oak Brook, Naperville and the outlet store in Aurora treat customers like family. I will find it difficult to return to the Wheaton store due to the rude behavior of the sales associate.
