I visit pawn shops across southern Utah 2-5 times a week because the nature of my work. Today was my first time visiting a Family Pawn and I am shocked and confused at my terrible experience. I visited to check out the silver jewelry they had in stock. The selection was excellent but that was the only positive aspect. The employee that helped me called me “full of sh**” after I provided him the appraisal from my local jeweler for a ring I was attempting to get a loan on (granted I also mistakenly mis-described the cut for the center stone of the ring as I just wasn’t thinking straight). The employee also insulted my jeweler who has over 30 years of experience. I told him that I would never be coming back to Family Pawn again. I went to the next nearest pawn shop and had a much better experience.

You'd expect pawn shops to be decent but walking into this one you can tell something is off, they've been in town awhile so they've built enough rapport with returning customers. 20 seconds into the conversation with the dude behind the counter and he was essentially implying he would buy or resell stolen goods, but just mentioned it subtly and made sure to tell me he would be willing to pay more if something was legit. Even looking at the replies on some of these reviews it shocks me that people still support this place after how they act towards criticism. P.s. gun section is cutoff due to "staffing shortage" yet no one was in the store besides me, a lady behind the counter with a middle aged dude doing absolutely nothing but staring at a wall. Willingness shortage more like it. The upside to this review is that there are actually plenty of good pawn shops in St.George! Happy hunting
