I have lived in Philadelphia all of my life. Haegele's Bakery is an old school Bakery with a dedication to quality that is extremely rare. What more can you say about their danish, buttercake, donuts, etc,etc. Their Springerle, Pfeffernuse and almond star cookies are amazing. If there is anything good to say about the city I live in, it is that we have Haegeles. Thank god, that they are still around

I was just there on doughnut day. Everyone was lined up spaced nicely apart and were only letting 2 people in at a time. It was my first time there but I'm definitely going back.

Anything WITH Chocolate speaks for itself !! BUT Here its profound ! The Orange Chiffon ring and the Toasted Coconut coffee cakes are supreme ! And don't miss a Creme Donut ! Jus sayin !
Stop in and if not get a reasonable fac-symalie there of !! Peachs are in season! Crumb pie is a good option!

Best butter cake in the city. Still use the old fashioned German recipe, browned crust with thick, gooey butter layer on a beautiful pastry type bottom. Only other place that made this good of a butter cake was Schmidt's bakery on Kensington ave just above heartland St. And they went out of business about 1970. This is the only other place I know of that rises to the occasion with its butter cake. Only bakery I use. Esp for breads and holiday pies when I'm not making my own.
I would think they make cheesecake your best bet is too call and ask. They seem to be pretty reasonable..
