DJ Q (Quinton) was the DJ for our wedding reception at the Atheneum Suites Hotel two weeks ago. Our entire experience with Michaels Entertainment was fantastic. Leading up to our wedding, Richard was communicative, responsive and professional. The week of, Quinton met with us to discuss our vision for the evening and any specific requests. He did an amazing job creating the perfect ambiance for cocktail hour and dinner, and transitioned flawlessly into the dancing portion of the evening. Just as we'd hoped, guests of all ages were on the dance floor all night long. We hope to have another opportunity to work with DJ Q and Michaels Entertainment!

DJ Bates and Michaels Entertainment were both great. I was a little suspicious of all of the five star reviews before we booked Michaels Entertainment, but they earned ours. They have a great process and were very well priced. Their online portal is thorough and we used it to guide a lot of our wedding planning outside of just the songs. We were able to include songs, timing details, and web links to help with pronunciation of some names in our wedding party. The two phone calls they scheduled worked great. DJ Bates was upbeat and positive, arrived early and communicated well with the officiant and the venue. He kept us on track throughout the wedding without rushing anything. We had a smaller wedding with several children and he was especially great with our five year old.

We had our wedding on 10/01 at CityFlats in Port Huron and DJ Bates was wonderful! Our ceremony music was flawless and the reception ran smoothly from cocktail hour to the last song! He played the music my husband and I requested through the DJ portal prior to the event and kept people on the dance floor all night! We were asked by several guests if we made the entire playlist, because everything was exactly what we would typically play and he executed this only by a handful of songs we provided him. Would highly recommend working with DJ Bates! Richard and Seth were both helpful with the booking process and any questions I had leading up to the wedding!

Amazing company! Highly recommend, especially DJ Cam , he really made our wedding night perfect and stress free. Also the company as a whole was very responsive, and helpful with every detail and question we had.

Is it worth it to have a videographer at your wedding?

Many couples consider skipping the videography service to save money. But that could be one of your worst wedding decisions. Many couples report that not employing a video professional is one of their biggest blunders. The reason for this is that while a professional photographer will catch many lovely moments throughout your day, with a videographer you'll get all of the in-between moments (not to mention all of the audio, which is priceless on its own). Years later you'll discover that having a real video to view back is the biggest treasure out of all your wedding memories.

Should I Hire A DJ Or A Band For My Wedding?

Michaels Entertainment | Mar 20, 2022

If you’ve been to parties with DJs and other parties with bands, you already know there are differences between them on an experiential level. Bands typically play songs beginning to end while DJs mix in and out of songs at certain cue points. Bands with good chemistry and energy can perform popular songs in new ways and bring with them the cumulative force of multiple band members, but they tend to be more rigid in the songs they are prepared to play, while DJs can change up their sets on the fly. Most bands have one of their members designated as the MC, in addition to the instrument they are responsible to play. While the quality of bands and DJs vary, most who look at their experience will find that the average DJ/MC tends to be more specialized as an MC than the typical band member who plays as MC.

How Much Does A Wedding DJ Cost?

A wedding DJ can cost a wedding couple anywhere from $1000 to $5,000 or more. A wedding DJ's prices depend on factors that include equipment, popularity, geographic region, and wedding experience level. In general, wedding DJs who have higher quality wedding equipment and more experienced wedding professionals command higher wedding costs. Wedding DJs vary in wedding cost. At Michaels Entertainment wedding DJ prices are all-inclusive, there are no hidden wedding fees or wedding expenses. What Should I Ask A Wedding DJ In A Meeting?

Michaels Entertainment | Mar 20, 2022
Michaels Entertainment | Mar 20, 2022

When you're interviewing your wedding DJ company, the most important thing to know is their planning process, and how they’ll make it happen. Also, ask them about their equipment set up, how they’ll play the music. It’s also important to know what kind of music they specialize in. If you need something different, just be ready to provide a playlist in that category. Find out how the DJ plans to dress. If jeans and a baseball cap are part of the wardrobe, just make sure that fits the class of your event. Ask the DJ how early they arrive before the event starts. A premium setup should take a minimum of 1.5 hours to set up comfortably, so if they say less than that then be suspicious of the quality and presentability of their setup. Ask the DJ what they’d do in the case of an emergency. Do they have backup systems in place and backup DJs on call?

What Qualities Should A DJ Have?

Michaels Entertainment | Mar 20, 2022

A wedding DJ should be a people person, have a nice voice, and be an approachable presence. He or she should be organized, have strong attention to detail, and have exemplary customer service skills. A wedding DJ should also have a passion for music, an understanding of song structure, and an ability to mix between songs seamlessly, avoiding dead air. Lastly, a wedding DJ should be technically savvy, not only having the right equipment but knowing how to use it also!

Is It Worth Having A Wedding DJ?

Every now and then a couple asks, do we even need to bother to hire entertainment? Can’t we just play Spotify? The answer to that depends on a few factors but first imagine this. You’ve got two parties. One with a Spotify list playing and another with a professional wedding DJ whose full-time attention is dedicated to making your moments happen on time, comfortably, with the equipment and know-how to amplify the speeches and music for all to hear. Want a dance party ran by a pro who’ll read your room, take requests, and mix in your favorites while staying away from your do not plays? Want someone who’ll help manage all the expectations of all your loved ones, the venue, your vendors, and help achieve the best result for you at the same time? Then you probably want to hire a wedding DJ.
