Had a bent rim and all replacements were 120 or more online. Found one for 16$ and they helped me switch my gears over. Amazing fast service.

Nice friendly staff

Pay attention to open shop hours. When open, the Collective is staffed with helpful volunteers and reasonably priced new and used parts. They'll help you keep your bike on the road or trail.

I don't know much about bikes but want to get into mountain biking since i moved to slc. I came here to find a used bike and the staff was very friendly and informative and the prices on the bikes were very reasonable. I found out that this store is a nonprofit and charitable so I was happy to support this business. They also have shop classes where they teach you how to fix your bike inexpensively. Really great experience and got just what I was looking for.

The collective doesn't sell rims, only complete wheels.
They have all kinds of parts and probably have the cable...you'd need to check with then on the shifter as well as pricing.
Yep ...
No. But the city has a Greenbike program with both bikes and Ebikes available at stations all over downtown.
They have rear wheels but selection varies as they are used parts and sometimes they have the one you need and sometimes you have to try again some other time, but I have definitely seen them. For just the rim right now it's less than $20, and for rim width Sheldonbrown.com says between about 17-23 mm of inner rim width. You will probably need to know your rear axle width to make sure the new wheel fits in your frame.
Dude the guys who run this place are absolute Rock Stars! I just bought a bike from them 2 weeks ago and it's running like a champ. Supper happy! Prices range from $100-$1200.
20 hrs to pick the bike, 30 to take it home. Kids workshop is Monday & Wednesday 3:30-5:30pm, and Saturdays 10:00am-12:00pm
Prices vary depending on the bike. They also have an excellent program where kids can earn a bike by working on bikes. My kids did it and loved it, now they know how to fix their own bike.
Core Volunteer here: Unfortunately, you are likely not eligible for another donation. The Collective has a 1-donation per person policy. However, we do have many inexpensive bicycles for sale, as low as ~$50 for an as-is bicycle (needs work). Then you may work on your bicycle if need be during Open Shop on Tues, Thursday 2-6 and Saturday from 12 to 6.
Wednesday is just youth open shop and women's night. Check that link for deets
You'll have to go in and check. Inventory changes daily. 24" bikes come up but not as often as the others, they also have a program where he can go in and build his own bike. I go in frequently and I am a member but not an employee I just want to add.
They don't do trades.
It is a locker you can rent by the hour. You buy a card with $20 credit. The cost is 5 cents an hour. You can purchase the card at https://www.bikelink.org/.
