Halyburton Park is one of my favorite walking spots. They have restrooms, water for dogs, playgrounds, and benches and picnic tables. There's also an event center. Well-maintained paths and tons of trees, birds, and other nature. Make this your regular spot for outdoor exercise!

This park is clean and close to independence rd ands college rd. It has good parking also for handicap. The loop is not more than 3 miles and it's perfect for family with kids, you can ride a stroller with no problem. They have a little playground for kids. They have picnic areas near the playground.

My husband has been cycling here for years, safely! I think God he has given up on the cycling lanes in the city of Wilmington and has found a place to not only get great exercise but to become involved in a community. He knows over 100 people by name. He loves to introduce me to them and as a result they tell me how much he encourages them. We donated a bench on his 80th birthday, however we are still waiting for a plaque which he is frequently ask about! Andy, the director is doing a great job with limited staff. He gave me a bee hotel made by Eagle Scouts yesterday. We have many local bees who need a safe place to lay their eggs. This is why carpenter bees drill holes in our decks. We need to protect their population as it is quickly diminishing. Everyone knows how important they are to our survival. The one pictured is more a resort than just a hotel!

Great little park to walk around. It has a 1.3 mile asphalt track around the perimeter of the park. Has a water stand for the dogs to drink water from. Also has interior dirt paths to hike if you want try those.

Not that I am aware of.
No you are not allowed to fish in any park that is owned by the City of Wilmington and that includes Halyburton Park.
Not sure how New Hanover County acquired the land. It should be easy to Google to follow up on its history
Yes, at Greenfield Lake
No charge to walk around, although inside I think they have a donation box.
