The owner of this restaurant is genuinely cruel to a broad network of relatives and the behavior has been damaging to multiple people. I'm a friend of someone who has had to endure this for years. Traditionally, neighbors and the community would encourage her to change -- perhaps patrons can do so.

Happy hour until 8pm!!! Great drinks & quick bites. Stay for the dinner because Chef Big guy is the best chef in west Philly! His food is so flavorful & cooked to perfection! This quaint & chill spot is a perfect place for meetups & drinks!

They had a hard time finding a new chef and kitchen staff, the new Chef Carlos is really good and the food has been constantly good.
Yes, you can get Chicken and Waffles after 5pm, their whole menu is available all day. Since the original question has been posted Aksum Cafe has been under new ownership since late 2019 and the whole menu is available all day.
