An absolutely gorgeous place to camp! I was there in April and there must have been hundreds of nighthawks and bats there. I've been there once in 2019 and once in 2022 and it's felt safe, clean, and well-kept both times. There's a great little nature trail nearby, and the stargazing is absolutely fabulous. Do be prepared for mosquitos if you're here in the spring or summer (that's a lot of what the bats are hunting).

We spent one night at Rio Grande Village Campground in May 2022. Large, very well-maintained and lovely park. Lots of grass and lovely spaces. There are a lot of smaller trees but they don’t really provide much shade. No hook-ups, but sites host a picnic table and locker box to secure food from bears or javelina. Restrooms available, but no showers. However, there are clean coin-operated showers at the park store just up the road. The showers and laundry stay open 23 hours a day, and are very reasonably priced (shower is $2 for 5 minutes; washer is $1.50/load and dryer is .25 for 8 minutes). There are a couple picnic tables out front where you can hang out and access Wi-Fi. A maintenance guy told us that very gusty winds are common in the campground, and advised not leaving our canopy out at night or when we are away from camp. We were very glad we took his advice because a neighbor who left theirs out nearly had it ripped off their camper. Friendly and helpful folks at the camp store, where you can purchase gas, ice, drinks, limited groceries, and some camping supplies.

Had an incredible time here. The hotsprings were incredible! Views were outstanding and the hikes are definitely for most people as long as you stick to the trail! STAY FREE!

Campground was clean and quiet most of the time. Sites are nicely spaced out. No hookups but water and dump station available. Campstore up the street with wifi. The campground has no wifi and no cell connection that we could get. Part of the campground doesn't allow generators.

No service at the camp site. I had AT&T reception in the Chisos Basin. There's a store in the Chisos Basin and a little shop near Rio Grande Village, but I didn't go into that one.
No, no fires at all. They have charcoal bbqs that's it. Are campfires allowed? NO. Ground fires and wood fires are prohibited throughout Big Bend National Park. Charcoal is allowed in grills in campgrounds. You may have a fire in a fire pan while on a river trip, or use a containerized fuel stove for backpacking. https://www.nps.gov/bibe/faqs.htm
No hookups in this park boondocking only Rio Grand Village camp ground
Both Cottonwood and Rio Grande Village can accommodate big rigs. Rio grande village at the south end is the only cg with full hookups. Chisos Basin has a length limit of around 20 ft.
