You don't. Just have to make sure you've sent in everything needed . You will get a letter in the mail from them after its been processed or if they need anything else from you

You'll need his birth certificate and health insurance card and you'll need your ID or driver's license as well, to prove who you are.
Its not temporary. However there are programs that help you get back on your feet. If you make for me more than 1600 a month you don't get disability but your still covered for health.
