What a wonderful experience! We found this BnB through a Google search, and it checked all of our boxes. The service was fantastic; my husband and I had a warm welcome and a brief tour of the mansion and carriage house. We stayed in one of the carriage house suites, but there was nobody in the other suite, so we had the entire building to ourselves. The room was neat and clean; the bath products smelled amazing, and the locally made products in the bath package were a wonderful addition. Breakfast was delicious! And bottomless coffee was a delight. We will definitely return!

Depends who you ask! Vrooman Mansion, built in 1869, was once owned by Julia Green Scott, whose daughter Julia Scott Vrooman was born in the mansion. It was young Julia's home until she died here in 1981 at the age of 104. Some guests and staff say they can occasionally sense her presence, but when they do it's always positive and subtle. Some people claim that it's just an urban legend while other guests have claimed to experience "something". As an older home, there are naturally creaks and sounds from old floorboards and walls, but to definitively say they are ghosts or not, it's hard to tell. To our knowledge, no one has had a bad or scary experience, and that includes us as the owners having lived here!
In the US, hotels are categorized on a scale of one to five stars. Unfortunately, the criteria isn't universal, but typically indicates whether a hotel has amenities like a pool, fitness center, bar, or restaurant. (The more amenities, the more stars.) As a bed and breakfast, there is not a separate scoring system for us. The 2-star reference is not a reflection of customer experience or feedback. It is system-generated comparing us to typical large hotels based on amenities. We recommend reading our customer reviews to see why previous guests chose the mansion as their bed and breakfast for overnight accommodations, and why it was the right choice for them. We hope it can be for you!
No, but we have a full sized refrigerator on the main floor for guest use. Feel free to store any drinks or snacks you've brought, or your leftovers from your night out. And let us know if you need any plates, drinkware or silverware to enjoy what you brought or ordered. We've even had previous guests get pizza delivered to the mansion!
It is a hot gourmet breakfast served at the dining table original to the mansion, and the day before, you get to choose what time you'd like breakfast served. That morning, service begins with a glass of juice accompanied by a piping hot beverage. Guests can choose from our specially blended coffee, one of our flavored hot cocoas, or one of our fine English teas. Enjoy a fresh seasonal fruit dish, and then we’ll present you with the hot entrée of the day. If you let us know when making your reservation, we will try to accommodate dietary restrictions. When the weather is nice, we can also serve you breakfast on our patio.
We absolutely can. When you book your room, let us know and we'll work with you to make sure our included breakfast is gourmet for you, while respecting your personal needs.
Gourmet breakfast is included in our price for all overnight guests. And yes, guests can invite their friends and family to join them for breakfast for an additional $15 per person. Please let us know in advance so we can set the table for everyone and have all of the right ingredients on hand. However, we're not a restaurant, so we're not open to the general public. If you live in town and would love to try our gourmet breakfast, we recommend you turn a date night into an overnight so you can experience the mansion and breakfast for yourself!
Of course! Let us know what you’re thinking so we can help coordinate. We’d love to help you figure out the ideal catering solution for your event and can provide you with a pricing and package guide and local suggestions if you need them. Whether it's a wedding, a bridal shower, or any other special event, we can help you coordinate the catering that best meets your needs.
For outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions we can host up to 100, and for indoor we recommend keeping it under 75 so it's most comfortable for everyone. Email us and we can provide a wedding packet with details on availability, pricing, packages, catering details and more. We want to make the significant moments both memorable and stress free!
Yes, we do! Our business rate is $125 + tax if you are a single traveler traveling any day(s) between Sunday and Thursday night.
Yes, you can. You will get the best rate available by going directly to our website - which is www.vroomanmansion.com.
They do..but depends on the weather and the size.
Yes, Renee, we do recommend the Charlevoix Suite as our "honeymoon" suite. This suite has a king size bed, full size leather sofa and a private attached bath room with a claw foot tub and a separate large shower with multiple body sprays and shower heads. If you really want to enjoy your night, we suggest renting the entire Carriage House for additional privacy and the full exclusive use of the downstairs and upstairs. Give a call to book or book directly on our site.
