I'm disappointed in this Salvation Army. I have contacted this command center and the local Portsmouth location with NO ASSISTANCE. My children attended the Portsmouth location for approximately 7 years. My children volunteered as needed and assisted with all community service and church functions. My children also became soldiers of the Salvation Army. Both are now in college. When asked; if there were any college scholarships provided for Salvation Army scholars my kids were given no information or guidance. We as a family never asked Salvation Army for any prior assistance. My children enjoyed the environment and over time acquired genuine friendships with other members. I believe my children were not provided assistance due to being members of the Portsmouth location and also due to the social economic discriminatory practices.

These people are so disrespectful and heartless they gave me transitional housing and the next day I came to bring the rest of my belongings n food they had me removed saying I put people in danger because a guest help me carry my stuff in and was driving me to work after the items got into the home but they didn't care and not to mention they look down on you like you beneath them

They do have a food pantry t ere but your best bet is to call the place doesn't open up until 1.
