Nice little hotel near downtown. The rooms are clean and updated, the staff very friendly, and there is good food and microbrews nearby! I recommend this one.

Good Motel, Needs Some Work - First, it is great that the new owners are keeping this classic motel operating. They just need to put more thought into the rooms. There is no place to hang your clothes. The floor is very dirty, since they are using low-cost tile that easily gets dirty. My socks were very dirty in no time. There are no toiletries and no soap. The "suppliers haven't arrived." But, you could easily grab what you need at a local store in Waterloo for your guests. The ice maker is a small, table-top home model, so it can run out pretty easily. With more work, this can be a very good motel. The price was excellent, I will say.

The room was very clean, and updated. Bed was comfy. Staff was friendly and polite when we checked in and check out was easy. Price is a steal for such a nice room. Right across the street from the main square in Waterloo.

We needed an affordable hotel room for a 4 night stay while coming to visit my grandmother and help her fix her bathroom. Was a little leary at first but went ahead and gave them a call. And boy am I glad I did! The guy that runs it is super super friendly (good ol' GENUINE southern hospitality). The room was cheaper than any other hotel around AND didn't charge extra for our dog and kids. The room was VERY VERY clean. Cleaner than most of the 5 star hotels I've stayed at! It was super comfortable and very quiet and peaceful. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here before any other hotel in the area. And if you do make sure you give a treat to Marley and her other doggie friend (didn't get a chance to meet the other puppy). And make sure you play fetch with her while your checking in and checking out! I definitely will say that out of all the hotels I've stayed in (including the 5 stars) this was absolutely the best experience and I would DEFINITELY stay here again! Thanks again Sunset Motel for the best hotel stay EVER!!!
