No amount of granite countertops and hardwood floors will make this a “luxury” apartment complex. We lived here for 4+ years and it was fine, but just that - fine. We had an apartment that faced west, which meant the sun was beating down on the apartment from about noon-8pm. It cost me an extra $200 to cool the apartment down to 75 every day, and that was with the AC running 24/7. The air flow and ventilation is awful and the windows don’t seal properly so it’s always humid regardless of anything you do. The pool seemed like it was closed more often than it was open, and especially in the summer months. Wouldn’t the winter months make more sense to do repairs? But no, it was always closed in March and April when you’re finally ready to get out and use it again. Our apartment had ceiling damage from a hurricane and then subsequent heavy rain in 2020. Water was literally dripping through our ceiling fan. After reporting it, the roof was finally fixed a year later, but our ceiling was never inspected or fixed. Goodness knows the mold etc living up there. Plus, the roofers redid the roofs of the entire complex in the spring of 2021. Which was fine, except there is STILL garbage from the roofing material hanging in the trees. Plastic bags and also strings of nails ! And there were countless nails strewn about the roads through the complex. My boyfriend and I would pick them up when we walked the dog, and we’d find around 10 every day. Additionally, my car was broken into overnight. So while this place is “gated”, pretty much anyone can get in regardless and commit whatever crimes they want. With all of this, the Gates raised our rent by $500 a month with only 30 days left on our lease. Yet they require a 60 day move out notice … which is definitely a shady business practice. Long story short - if you are looking for a mediocre place to live, the Gates at Citiplace is fine. But don’t buy into their “luxury” marketing because it just isn’t true.
