Start to finish I was impressed with the communication and quality of work. I really appreciate being able to trust someone when it comes to work fundamental to your home like a roof.

Mills Roofing exceeded my expectations throughout the entire experience. From my initial contact with the office staff, timely scheduling, and through the efficient billing process. And all of this within a 2-day service window following our epic snow storms, which left many contractors too impacted to respond to telephone calls and email requests. The crew, lead by Francisco, was in a league of their own: professional, courteous, with a level of customer service rarely seen today. The work of removing heavy ice dams, roof shoveling, and treatment of ceiling moisture caused by two separate issues, were able to be addressed by this knowledgeable crew. I not only received an explanation and photos of all services, but was "educated" about my roof. Explanations were presented in a manner that was clear enough for even a person unfamiliar with most roofing issues to gain a comfortable understanding. I am confident in the work completed and, going forward, fortunate to have such an outstanding resource for any future concerns. I give Mills Roofing a 10 our of 10! I recommend them, without reservation, to anyone looking for roofing services in the areas they serve.

Roof snow removal: We are very happy with the work Mills Roofing did for us. Their crew arrived on time, set up their safety procedures (harnesses etc), and got straight to work. They were personable, efficient, and professional from start to finish. In the past, we've paid nearly as much for uninsured and untrained men to spend a lot more time on our roof. It's a risky business standing on a two-story, snow/ice covered roof. Leave it to the pros and hire Mills Roofing!

Questions & Answers

I'm having solar panels installed. How does that affect my roof?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020
Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020

When you are having a solar company install panels, it is a good time to also replace the roof. The roofing team can install the “stand-offs” in a way to make sure that they will be watertight and not cause leaks.

After seeing the damage caused by our extreme weather in the area, we found this innovative product that can penetrate into composition shingles, and it’s a completely natural, plant-based solution. Every roof that we can prevent from being torn off and thrown away is a win for our customers and our planet.

How long does roof replacement take?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020

Our typical Tahoe style roof of moderate steepness, medium size (approximately 30 squares), would take a crew of 5-6 employees about 5-6 days to complete. Of course, this varies with all kinds of factors including weather, material supplier schedules, access to the roof, county inspection schedules, etc.

Can I schedule a roof replacement in winter?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020

If it’s a low snow year, we can continue to replace roofs with very precise care. The temperature must be above 40 degrees to install materials. When the weather report is clear for several days to come, we will remove and replace the roof in small sections at a time, so that they can be completely weather tight every day.

What is a complete roof replacement?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020
Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020

Complete roof replacement means that the existing roof is torn off down to the plywood. The plywood is inspected for defects or dry rot. An Ice and Water barrier is used to cover the entire roof and then that is covered with a synthetic underlayment. The roofing material is installed, usually composition shingle or metal panels. All trim is replaced with 24 gauge painted steel, including eaves, sidewall, and valley. The plumbing vent flashing is replaced and painted.

Can I deduct roof replacement on my taxes?

Consult a CPA. Keep your receipts forever. When you sell your home, you can deduct the cost of improvements.

What do I need to know about roof replacement?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020
Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 15, 2020

In the mountain climate, extreme heat and cold fluctuations can cause the underlayments to deteriorate. A roof can appear in good shape but will leak because the waterproof layer is not holding up. Newer materials are made to last.

How do I finance roof replacement?

We have several options available for financing through an independent Service Finance company. They have short-term, mid-term and long-term choices. Also, we accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards.

What is the best roofing material for snow country?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 16, 2018
Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 16, 2018

It depends on the design of your home. Metal is an excellent choice if you want the snow slide off and it will not cause a safety issue. Composition works best in situations where falling snow would be dangerous.

Are you insured?

Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 16, 2018
Mills Roofing Inc | Oct 16, 2018

Yes. We are a fully insured company with workers compensation to protect our employees and General Liability to protect your property. State law does not require General Liability insurance and many roofing contractors do not carry it. Always ask to see a current certificate before you hire a contractor.
