The Viaduct itself is a stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway girding the side of the mountain. There is no place to stop on the viaduct itself, but there are rest areas on either side of the Parkway as you continue on.

The timings of the visitor center may be altered but overall it is open.

I heard they were closing it for maintenance. I just looked it up and it has been closed since March 1st and will be closed though May 24th.
