Went boondocking out her. Keep your kids on a leash so they don't die tumbling down the cliff's edge but it's a sight to behold.

Always love riding here. Hope you can fix up the road to horse camp soon.

Why would anyone want to visit this desolate "forest". The views are so boring being the middle of the sandhills. What a joke, this so called forest was the worlds largest man-made forest. The abundance of deer, turkey, coyote, bald eagles, prairie dogs are such a nuisance. The trails are terrible, most are designated for 4x4, high-clearance vehicles or utv's, which my Jeep absolutely hates. Please, by all means, do not even think about going to the Nebraska National Forest. Go visit Colorado, they need more people cluttering, polluting, and congesting their mountains. Leave this place to those that only want the seclusion, solitude and retreat that it provides. ;)

The Nebraska certainly has a unique charm all it's own. While I don't find it to fit my forte, it can certainly grow on you. I've visited a couple of times for work and it got more appealing with each visit. There is a lot of rich history for the Forest Service here and it's definitely worth a look.

Chandron NE, no matter how many times I tell Google they won't fix it
Yes dispersed camping is allowed. There is no charge to camp outside of the established camp grounds.
It's not far from camping to trail head, less than a mile maybe.. and people do park right at the trail head.
There are multiple trails in the state park and surrounding area.
