There is currently a COVID outbreak at this location. Employee tested positive, but not being sent home, therefore everyone else will be exposed. Important matters are not handled professionally. Please don’t send your loved one here!

I currently work as a med tech. And pass meds to the residents. I brought my daughter by to see the residents and too see their faces light up when she was babbling and laughing made their day. I love all my residents. The building has new management and they are super great. They are very attentive to the residents and care so very much. If you have an issue they are willing to work and help on the floor as needed. They don't mind working alongside staff. The Ed Katie is super sweet. And she loves helping her staff and residents. Judy the Hwd is amazing nurse. And cares so very. Much. I love working with them and caring for the residents. It is a great place to work.

The 1 star is generous. I have been an RN for close to 20 years. I spent a lot of that time in case management. I spent 3 years as a private pay patient advocate. When my father had a stroke, I moved him to NC for his rehab and admitted him to Brookdale. This was definitely one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Administration was rude and acted like I was handing over a used handkerchief vs my post stroke, non-verbal father. When I tried to explain about getting PT, OT and speech in as quickly as possible because he was within his stroke rehab window and time was dwindling, Roberta said that she'd take care of it. A week later, my father was in the PT gym for hours waiting until the PTA there called me and asked if my father was going to be signed up for therapy. NO one had done anything. I got things arranged eventually. Imani, the finance person / Roberta's assistant, came into my father's room where I was working with him and the speech therapist on his initial evaluation and literally yelled at me that I'd been there more than 45 minutes. My father couldn't speak for himself. I needed to give information to the SLP about baseline. Also, coming into my father's room that I was pay $7500 a month for and yelling at his daughter who was then forced to leave scared him. He couldn't talk. He couldn't write or make a phone call. I tried to Facetime with him, but the WIFI didn't reach his end of the hallway. I told management that I was happy to purchase and install a WIFI extender, so that my father would have a way to communicate with the outside world. They said, no problem, we'll get it taken care of this week. He was there months, I asked about it on multiple occasions, they never followed through. Imani also yelled at me when I hugged another resident. She's 100 and I've been in her life for almost a decade. In her life, like celebrating holidays together, like taking her to the bar for her birthday, like family. Her daughter and son-in-law are like second parents to me. It's a big part of why I picked Brookdale. No staff member should ever yell in front of a resident, especially one with disorientation issues. Sensitivity training is completely absent. No place is all bad. Rachel, the PTA on staff was absolutely lovely and truly kind. The activities director, Whitney was amazing at her job and really good with the residents. Long story short, I've been in and out of nursing homes for a living for over a decade. If you have love in your heart for your relative, don't even think about sending them to Brookdale Asheville Overlook.

Poor management and horrible staff. Good luck working in this dump. Secretary named Imani was extremely rude and ex ED Roberta attitudes were disgusting. Good luck with dead roaches in the break room and spider infestation. Hallways still smell like piss….. as a person who worked here a month ago, do yourself a favor and never put your elderly family members in here. It’s inhumane to live and work here. I would rate this place zero stars if I could. Unprofessional and dirty. Also employees love to gossip about each other here. They’ll say we’re close “as family” but spread rumors about you or cause you to get in trouble just for the sake of drama.
