I honestly didn't make it to the end... I got exhausted. Climbing back up was wretched. Bring lots of water. Best hike ever. The hike won!

The hike down to the river isn’t bad, but in the sun at the end of your day you’ll immediately understand why they call the hike “strenuous”. We followed the established trails most of the way up to the Subway, but walked right through the river on the way back. This was much more fun! Make sure not to miss the opportunity to swim to the waterfall at the end of the line after the Subway. An experience we will never forget.

$5 to enter a lottery 3 months after you enter...example: enter before October 5th, lottery held November 5th for December hikes. Pick up your permits day before your hike and pay additional fees and wag bag...about $20 total...catch is, permit lottery isn't held for winter....its walkups only...go to Zion National Park website, it explains everything. Leave early and be prepared for a strenuous hike if your hiking the Subway in and out in 1 day.
