Each county Register of Deeds office issues marriage license. You may get your license in one county and be married in any other county as long as you remain in the state.

Can I get a birth certificate during my visit?

We can issue birth certificates for those born in Rockingham County unless an adoption occurred. We can issue birth certificates for folks born in another county from 1971 to current. Please phone the office for fees.

Do I have to file my power of attorney papers that have been notarized.? And is there a fee?

There would be a fee to record a Power of Attorney. Please consult with your attorney to determine when the Power of Attorney should be put on public record.

How do I go about selling land in Eden? I live in Guilford county. The land belonged to my deceased father. The land I understand is land locked. Guilford county says I have to sell it to close out my father's estate. Thank You, Debra H McKinney
