Rented a BixTex 20k lbs trailer to haul some heavy equipment. After loading it up, on highway all sudden trailer started valiantly shake and imediatelly tire blew. Managed to safely slow down move over to the shoulder and stop. One rear axle tire blew, the other tire on same axle was almost flat. Called united, texted them location, tire size..... asked for confirmation of receiving it have not heard back for hours. It was quite late, but found tire shop that was still open, unloaded trailer and headed there right before closing. Tire shop said you have one 14Ply tire and 3 regular E load tires (@80 PSI max load is only 3200lbs) . According to shop this type of trailer should have at least least 14 or 16 ply heavy load tires. The tire that was almost flat was out of round and cord wires sticking out from inside, clear sign of internal damage. 2 brand new tires later, loaded up and headed back home. Next day at rental office. Told about having to replace 2 new tires on trailer. Tires are customers responsibility. I understand, but you renting 20k lbs trailer that has inadequate load tires, it can barely hold half the trailer load rating. Even showed them pictures of internal tire failure. Answer still the same tires are customers responsibility. Company does not cover them. Not even a hint of OMG, we will look into it and make sure it does happen to another renter. We spend hours dealing with this. Had to leave expensive piece of equipment on side of road in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention 2 new tires were 5 times more expensive than rental itself. At the end it is what it is. But the share ignorance for safety and renting equipment with improper tire ratings and then just brushing it off like it's customers problem, I find unbelievable and unacceptable.

Great service, wonderful team, easy to work with and quick to get in and out for both pickup and return. We’ll definitely be visiting United Rentals in the future and recommend them to others.

Excavators are heavy-duty diggers. Typically, the deeper the hole, the bigger the machine required. They can drill, break rocks, create trenches or dig large holes for foundations. A compact excavator is ideal for heavy digging in a tight space. Loaders are perfect for scooping up loose material and depositing it elsewhere. They move well in soft soil but cannot dig very deeply. Bulldozers' giant blade attachments can push large quantities of dirt, debris, shrubs or building remains to where you want them. A bulldozer can also be outfitted with a rear "ripper" that can tear through rock and soil.
Ensuring you have the right size bucket for your project is important for proper production and reducing wear and tear on the equipment. There are several factors to consider and calculations to perform to determine the correct bucket. Generally, you'll use OEM specifications, including the maximum lift capacity, bucket weight and bucket capacity. Find more information and how to calculate whether the capacity of your bucket will work in the United Rentals article, “How to Choose the Right Bucket for Your Excavator or Wheel Loader.”
The size of skid steer depends on the job you wish to perform. The smallest skid steers typically have a rated operating capacity (ROC) of about 700 pounds and an overall weight of about 3,000 pounds. This smaller size is ideal for a homeowner project as it can usually fit through a walkthrough backyard gate. A very large skid steer can have an ROC in the 3,000-plus-pound range for someone who doesn’t have room for a full-size backhoe or wheel loader. Read more about the seven factors to consider when renting a skid steer from United Rentals.
