We visited the end of summer when blooms were past peak but had a good time walking through the gardens and had a great tour of the porcelain collection given by volunteers. There is a very good gift shop and all staff were super friendly.

There ARE misting machines, and there ARE pools of water near the paths, etc, but while the first is def designed for the kids to interact with, I don't think they've given an official ok to the idea of kids jumping in those pools (I've never seen one in them, or, come to think of it I haven't seen other kids in swimsuits) Def don't dress them in clothes you want to stay clean but I think so long as they are in an 'ok for standard outdoor play' outfit, they'll be fine.
opens in january 2019
It totally depends on you-- the gardens are self-guided. You can set your own pace. I would say if you want to take in everything, talk to a volunteer in the visitor center, see what events are going on in the conservatory and view any art displays, read botanical signs, see all the gardens, check out statues, and take pictures, give yourself at least two hours, or more if you plan to eat or sit and relax during your touring. Otherwise, take a walk, look around, maybe only spend an hour.
There are actually paintings in the main conservarory. They will occasionally showcase famous or local painters, photographers and other artists. It's probably one of the least well-known highlights of this facility.
At least an hour. I usually walk down to the river and then back through the gardens.
Handicap parking is available close to the visitor center adjacent to the International Gardens
Hi Jen, We would love to have you at the Garden for pictures. There is no fee, but we ask that if you are using a professional photographer, they contact our rental office to confirm they are aware of our policies. As for what may be in bloom, if you visit our website (https://botgarden.uga.edu) and click the In The Garden section on the bottom right of the page, you will see what may be in bloom each season.
Hi James. IF we do it will be available in our Online Plant Store https://estore.uga.edu/C27063_ustores/web/store_main.jsp?STOREID=403&SINGLESTORE=true
Yes, many are still in bloom.
They're not open for MLK day. Their website has info on events and when they're closed.
Pull em off Google for the project
I would say yes, there are places outside to sit but not out in the garden
Hi Sierra, We have a monarch release as part of our annual Insectival. Insectival usually takes place in September. We do have several areas of the garden that attract butterflies but this is the only time we release them. Hope this helps
All of our Christmas events have occurred. The Garden starts holiday hours on Monday, December 24, 2018. Please see our website for more details
I believe the grounds might be open
I paid to be a friend of the gardens and they let me know about sales and special events. You get a discount as a friend so it may be worth it, if you plan on purchasing a lot. https://estore.uga.edu/C27063_ustores/web/classic/store_cat.jsp?STOREID=264&CATID=977&SINGLESTORE=true
No
Yeah , they have
There's no charge. It's free and open to the public
Yes, they have handicap parking and gardens that are wheelchair accessible. I would call them and let them know the group size and when you were going.
They had a few available on the day we visited.
Are there picnic tables there?
