Happy New Year to you too. North Hempstead services in general typically close for holidays. E.g. you can't expect to pay taxes at town hall today, the public library and schools are closed today and there is no garbage pickup today. Rec center is closed too. The town's 311 call center can typically answer these kinds of questions but my suspicion is they probably are closed today too.

Closed on Christmas day. Early closing (2PM) on Christmas eve. I called them and asked at the front desk and this is what they told me on 12/22/2017.
