We recommend around 5 months.
You do not have to have an appointment. We do see walk-ins but for your convenience we ask that you do make an appointment as we may not always be available when you walk in. We will see you but it is possible that your wait time may be prolonged. If you have an appointment, you will be seen at that time. Thanks for the question.

Currently we do not have a free neuter program. Perhaps contact the Humane Society. They have a low cost spay/neuter program that might be of help.
