Very disappointed in Afford-a-Rooter's customer service. They do not provide free estimates which they make very clear, and charge $89 to just go out - one of the top charges in the industry. Brandy was extremely confrontational with me on the phone when I was just asking whether this could be applied towards the fix. They already charged me $89 to go out originally and could not visualize the fix because we needed to remove drywall and microbial growth. So this would be a second charge. She actually started fighting with me on the phone stipulating that I was likely going to be forced to get several bids by insurance so they had to cover themselves. I actually already have the check and can choose whoever I want to work with for the repairs. The technician was also over two hours late and just waiting until another payment was collected. I won't work with them in the future. This is typical business and no one needs to treat others like this on what should be an easy customer service conversation. It was also a large potential job and a big loss for their company. Time to upgrade your customer service team and do some training on how to wrap your site fee into actual work.

We had an issue with our sewer line. These folks were great. Jason did a thorough analysis; Martin and crew came and did the work. They did what they said they would do for the price that was quoted. GREAT ! ! !

We contacted Afford-a-Rooter because we had them do work for us several years ago. They did a great job back then, so we contacted them again to determine why our sewer line was clogged. Their representative came in and ran a camera down the line and it was obvious that it needed replaced. We asked the rep about such things as landscaping, lawn replacement, and sprinkler repair. He said that other than replacing the damaged lawn, the landscaping and sprinklers would be repaired. The crew came out and did a great job replacing the sewer line (in one day). My only complaint is that they didn't repair the sprinkler system correctly and I had to go in and do that myself.

Their crew did a 20' replacement of sewer line in our front yard. The crew was knowledgeable, hard working and were concientious of our property. They did an excellent job of cleaning up the site when complete. I would highly recommend their services.

The most common plumbing problems are clogged drains and toilets, leaky faucets and pipes, water heater issues, low water pressure, and a running toilet. While most of these can be solved in a DIY fashion, some more serious issues will require a licensed professional to come out and assess issues with your current plumbing system.

What uses the most water in my home?

Toilets typically use the most water in the home, beating out showers, dishwashers, and sinks. This is because of the frequency toilets are often used. You can adjust the water level that the basin fills up to with a couple of quick adjustments. Also, there is the option to install a low-flush toilet, which uses less water.

How do I avoid frozen pipes?

The best way to prevent your pipes from freezing is by insulating your pipes. If you are not able to insulate your pipes you can leave the water on a slow drip on very cold nights. The water constantly running will prevent your pipes from freezing.

What are the benefits of a tankless hot water heater?

Afford-A-Rooter Plumbing Services | Oct 13, 2021

The biggest benefit of a tankless water heater is that they never run out of hot water. A storage tank hot water has a limited capacity (whatever the size of the tank), while a tankless can heat unlimited amounts as it passes through the system. Tankless water heaters can also save you money by only heating the water you use, not the amount of water that is sitting in the storage tank.

What are possible causes for a faucet to leak?

The most common cause of faucet leaks is a corroded gasket, o-ring, or valve. This is often an easy fix. Most of the time, those parts can simply be replaced without replacing the whole faucet.

How do I get rid of standing water in my dishwasher?

Afford-A-Rooter Plumbing Services | Oct 13, 2021
Afford-A-Rooter Plumbing Services | Oct 13, 2021

The most common reason for this is a clogged drain basket. Start by running your garbage disposal. From there clean your sink's air gap and remove standing water. A shop vacuum is recommended for this. Clean up any detergent that could have accumulated on sensors. Check the drain basket/ filter in the bottom of your dishwasher and clean it out thoroughly. At this point check the drain hose for kinks, as well as any possible clogs/ obstructions. If necessary replace the drain hose and if problems persist then contact a licensed professional.

Is it safe to use chemical drain cleaners?

In short, no. Chemical drain cleaners can cause damage to pipes. The chemicals can cause degradation when used in old pipes repeatedly. When used in plastic pipes, chemical drain cleaners create heat which can damage the plastic pipes. In addition to possible damage to your home's plumbing system, chemical drain cleaners are bad for the environment and septic systems.

This is often the result of the handle getting stuck. This causes the flapper to remain open which will allow water to continue to flow into the bowl. Fixes could include tightening, lubricating, or replacing the handle.
