Amazing. My daughter loves the dogs

Manager Kara called me when my pitbull mauled me. Told me to take a potentially rabid dog home. That's not professional. She told me to take the dog back regardless if it has rabies. She victim shamed me. She asked if I got medical attention. I said I called ambulance, was assessed and told I shouldnt go to the ER. Now that I've been educated on rabies & its seriousness, I got treatment. These people are out of line. My dog attacked me on Mothers Day. They got mad that POLICE brought the dog there. Blamed me. Where else should police take the dog? Should they shoot it behind a barn? NO! They take it to the humane society. This was the worst experience of any humane society. Kara switches like a light and starts tearing you apart. Victim shaming of the highest. They blocked my ability to comment on their page to mask the wrong they've done. They can't stop me here. Dont make me seek legal counsel because I can do that for free because I'm mentally disabled. We receive free representation in Ohio. In fact, Im seeking legal consult regarding your treatment of me as a person when you don't know me from Adam. You'll see below UCHS responded to my review. This is an attempt by the UCHS to save face. Their response is based on hearsay unless they have their phones recorded, which I hope they do so I can shut them up. Chances are they don't. They didn't address the way I was treated and whoever responded didn't identify themselves so it could be the person in question Kara responding. Rather than show concern for my review and complaint, you'll see the only thing they addressed is themselves and their own needs and beliefs. This place is terrible. I know a guy that tried talking to a lady at the humane society and he said she flipped out when be mentioned the reason pitbulls were created. They were created to kill. Somehow this lady at UCHS felt the need to attack my friend. She even went as far as telling him to leave and never come back. Yet, she provoked the issue? Many of us in the community know about how you've treated patrons. I'm not the first victim. I reiterate these people didnt care about my wellbeing. Theres no kindness and all victim shaming. I don't expect the UCHS to fess up to their disrespect. Its not the questions that Kara asked that bothered me, it was the disrespectful manner in which she presented those questions. You folks care less about the victim of dog attacks. You proved it by your reply below. You literally sat there on the phone with the assumption that the dog was provoked into biting me when you dont know me and you werent there. Thats victim shaming. You say whatever you need to say to save face. You think because you work at a humane society that you're educated more than veterinarians. They recognize traits of dogs like how blue heelers herd, but if you ask the history about pitbulls or have one maul you, they immediately blame the owner. Fact. If whoever wrote the response wasn't Kara, then you're going by heresay and her trying to save face. Why do you cover for this woman when people in the community know how shes treated others? Youll recognize a blue heeler as a herder or a coonhound for hunting, but youll compromise the safety of every person that adopts pitbulls by not educating them about the reason they were created, which was bullbaiting - an awful sport where pitbulls were selected and bred for their ferocity. Their "job" was to kill male cow bulls for sport. UCHS would never tell you that, would they? Nope. I'm well aware how these people operate. I don't care what they say. They're lying!

My cat went missing recently so my mom and I stopped by the Humane Society to see if anyone had dropped off our cat. Everyone there was super nice and comforting. We didn't find our cat there but they were very helpful about how to find her. We still haven't found her yet and it's been 4 days now but I'm hoping she comes home soon. The Humane Society took down our information and asked questions about our cat so if anyone dropped her in then they would call us.

Does the humane society have 2022 dog tags?

Yes, we do.

What is the law for leaving dogs out in the cold? There is a house up the road that leaves their two dogs out in the freezing weather, chained up? I don't think it's right and feel for the animals.

I can only find the proposed law back in 2017, but no confirmation that it ever actually became a law. However, from my memories, it did. I would call into the shelter as soon as they open and ask. By what I read, the proposal was for no more than 30 minutes outside at a time. Personally I am totally against leaving a canine companion out on a chain, but who knows what goes through some people's minds. 😥

Hi, not from the humane society, but I frequent it often. I don't believe they perform the procedures for animals not in the shelter, but Woodside over by Mill Valley is a very good vet that I'd recommend.

I know someone who doesn't want their dog anymore, he needs to be dropped off somewhere at an adoption center or a place that will find him a home, how do I go about that?

The UCHS can take care of that. I'd give them a call to arrange a surrender. There may be a fee but they'll be able to help.
