Our decision to place my father in the care of harmony village was a difficult one but on that we do not regret. The staff and leadership staff are both professional and caring. They are always responsive to our questions and concerns. They maintain an open line of communication with our family. They monitor our fathers’ condition and take appropriate corrective action as needed. I know our father is safe and well cared for at all times. Thank you!

I would highly recommend Harmony village of Paramus for loved ones with memory challenges. Risa kory leads a team of caregivers, nurses, activity coordinators, maintenance and kitchen staff who are compassionate, patient and keep the facility extremely clean and welcoming. Blanca, lead nurse, is always available to answer medical questions. My mom has made many friends with other residents and keeps busy with the daily activities. While watching my mom’s memory decline has been difficult, knowing she is happy, active and well cared for every day at this point in her life is a great relief for our family. Thank you to the entire staff at Harmony village of Paramus.

MONEY GRAB!! My mother was a resident at Harmony Village for a few short months before her passing. The Administrator Risa is the least compassionate person person I have ever met. She insisted we have additional around-the-clock care for Mom which we paid for out of pocket on top of the full cost of the facility!! My mother was kept in her room and not permitted to be with any of the other residents because they said they were too “understaffed.” They had her on the 2nd floor which was for “ medium level care “ patients. They reported to us that she had symptoms of severe dementia yet they would not allow her to move to the advanced floor that provided that extra care. This resulting in the continuing additional cost of 24/7 aides. The staff spent so little time with my mom that they completely missed diagnosing a UTI which landed her into the hospital by which time she was severely sick and her behaviors were affected. When she was discharged by the hospital back to Harmony Village the administration would not allow her back as they they could not handle her progressed dementia behaviors so they sent her back out to the ER same day. This added to my mothers confusion and sickness. Needless to say our whole family was saddened and we suddenly had no place for my mom to go. She passed away just 6 weeks later. I would never recommend Harmony Village to anyone who expects understanding and compassionate care. It’s all about the money. The head of Nursing and Dementia specialist did not recognize that my mother was rapidly in decline and within weeks of her death. It was absurd. Especially given the cost of the facility. Sadly these events were the last weeks of my memories with my mother.

Hi Sandra- Harmony Village is the FIRST assisted living in Bergen County that specializes in the care of those with Dementia and other Memory Impairments. We have “neighborhoods” based on cognitive abilities. Our goal is to have our residents thrive alongside their cognitive peers. We focus so much attention on our residents personal strengths and develop personalized programs based on each persons strengths and past life experiences. Our model of dementia care integrates the individual preferences, life story and cognitive abilities of the person to provide them with “just the right amount” of support at each stage of the disease. We offer 24 hour on site nursing. We also have a Dementia Specialist (also an RN) who works hand in hand with our caregivers providing them the tools to help redirect behaviors in an effort to reduce the use of antipsychotic medications. Monthly support groups for our families and community empower those who care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
