If the system would allow me to not give any stars I would have done so. On 7/12/22 Dr. Leon Chen diagnosed me with acid reflux. He prescribed Omeprazole 40 MG. Acid reflux was causing me a coughing and choking sensation causing sleep deprivation. Before calling the office to speak with Dr. Chen about a prescription to soothe acid reflux cough I attempted over the counter medications; mucinex and Robitussin. I left 3 messages 7/23, 7/24 and 7/25/22 and informed whoever took the messages to inform Dr. Chen that acid reflux is disrupting my sleep and if the Dr. can prescribe something to help me sleep. Dr. Chen left a voicemail informing me that insomnia is not a side effect of the Omeprazole. I never said it was a side effect. He offered treatment options; Benadryl, Prednisone options that would have caused sleeplessness. When I rejected treatment options he stated that I don’t have to return to the clinic. With such disrespect and disregard for patient care I’ve made a conscious decision not to return to the Dyker Heights clinic. He left a voicemail on my phone stating that I don’t have to take the Omeprazole. What kind of professional would tell a patient to discontinue medication required for acid reflux?
