Well maintained and a friendly staff. but, it is listed as a State Park and the county of Spotsylvania over regulates it as a county park. It would help if the State would clarify this matter. I did not feel the county of Spotsylvania was informed as to Native American use of this Park and although the staff was kind and friendly they to were confused as to the state laws concerning Native American Peoples use of the lake.

It's always a pleasure to get out on the water here. Just like anywhere else the fishing can be hit or miss, however. There are a few spots that always seem to hold a nice bass or two, though. They have boat rentals. Cash only and the rates are a little higher for anyone not a resident of Spotsy

Hunting Run Reservoir is open Saturdays and Sundays beginning March 3 through March 25, 2018. Then beginning in April - Open Each Week on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from March 29 - October 7, 2018 and the following Holidays: Memorial Day - Monday, May 28, 2018, Independence Day - Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Labor Day - Monday, September 3, 2018, Columbus Day - Monday, October 8, 2018. They are open Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday. The gate opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. the boats have to be off the reservoir at 7:30
