A note to the Dove hunters. Dove hunting is only allowed in season on Wednesday and Saturday’s. That is not published online easily to find, we had called to find out once we saw a sign there. Also, the dove fields have not been planted since 2019. We did go late morning, not ideal, also on a day that is not legal to hunt (Friday) so we couldn’t. However the fields were bare grass, no sunflowers or wheat. No birds. I don’t know if they feed from those fields still (this review is Sep 2022) but the fields have not been planted since 2019. They were mowed pre season, but doesn’t seem like birds fly through here to feed. Anyone have a different experience would love to know. Property is gorgeous…. Just no birds to shoot. We did call in to the phone for this area and Denise was very helpful. She has been a 17 year Veteran working there and had all the answers we needed, just unfortunate for us bad answers. No hunting on the day we were there and no planting since 2019! With two full grown men dressed in camo there was nothing else left to do but stop by a cabellas and walk around looking like we were country boys who knew what we were doing. And eat McDonald’s.

There are so many wonderful trails that you can not get to. The park has a lot of trees down and trails are blocked by trees and over grown folage

One of my favorite places to ride. There are probably 12+ miles of trails for horses - and a lot of different terrain. After storms there can be trees down, but other than that - it's a gem for horse people!

Lots of land to explore (easily walked 9 miles). Saw turkey and deer sign, and plenty of squirrels in the early am and just before sunset. The fields are also good for rabbits. Not a lot of other hunters out, so you feel like you have the place to yourself.

Yes but You can not see to muchs dove when you planning goi Was there the last week
Waterfowl only.
Your best bet is just get a fishing license. good for a year, and as there is fishing available, you can camp there. Otherwise I think you go online to the Virginia Fish and game site.
Bring your own.
If you have a hunting or fishing license, you're good. Otherwise you need a WMA access permit. More info: https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/access-permit/
No handguns allowed. Hours vary by season, but can be found on their website along with the full rules and regulations. https://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wma/cf-phelps/

Yes, however the general firearms season is different than the rest of the county. It starts on the 18th of November and ends on December 2nd. Hope this helps.
Rifles are allowed for the two week deer season. Rifle deer season is short on the C.F. Phelps. Check with the VADGIF for the actual correct information
no.. I think if you find a place to set up, you're good. I camped in a parking lot because it was flat, but I've also camped in a few of the meadows there.
No. Just horses, bicycles and hiking.
