By staying home when you or a loved one is ill and washing your hands regularly, you can help keep yourself and your children healthy.
If you think your child has RSV or bronchiolitis, it is important to keep your child hydrated and monitor for fever or shortness of breath. Contact your child’s doctor, who can test for RSV and provide recommendations to keep your child safe at home. If your child’s health situation is serious or life-threatening, go to the nearest ER or call 911.
Respiratory Syncytial Virus, or RSV, may appear like a bad cold to adults. For infants or young children, RSV can cause bronchiolitis -- a virus which causes swelling and an increase in mucus in the airway. This can cause difficulty breathing through their nose and eventually dehydration due to difficulty latching to the breast or bottle for infants. Other symptoms of RSV may include a fever or a very wet sounding cough, which can turn into coughing fits. Those coughing fits can cause a child to gag and potentially vomit.
Family medicine doctors provide ongoing care for adults and children, and offer a full range of medical services for your whole family. Pediatricians provide specialized pediatric primary care for only infants, children and adolescents.
Virtual or telehealth visits may be appropriate for some pediatrician appointments so that your child can get the care they need without leaving home. Contact your pediatrician’s office to find out whether a virtual or telehealth visit is an option for your child’s care.
Our commitment is to help keep you and your family safe while you’re receiving care in our ERs, hospitals, doctor’s offices and outpatient centers. We have strong safety precautions in place--such as rearranging waiting rooms, wearing PPE for the safety of our patients and caregivers and performing rigorous procedures to clean and disinfect. Don’t delay getting the care you need at this time.
Our pediatricians are ready to care for your child from birth through the teenage years. From routine checkups, vaccinations, and care for common and minor illnesses, conditions and injuries, our pediatricians are here for you at every step of your child’s life.
A referral may not always be needed, but if additional care is needed, our pediatricians can help connect you with specialists and medical resources to help your child get the right care for their health needs.
Our pediatricians take time to listen and develop a relationship with you and your child to provide care that’s right for your family. From routine checkups and care for minor illness and injury to care for congenital and ongoing conditions, our pediatricians are here as your partner in your child’s care. And if additional care is needed, they can also help make connections to specialists, advanced practitioners and other medical resources as needed.
Our pediatricians deliver specialized care for our youngest patients - from infants through the teenage years. They serve as the first point of care for routine checkups, vaccinations, and care for common and minor illnesses, conditions and injuries. They also help make connections to specialists and other medical resources as needed. Your child’s pediatrician will start by listening to understand your concerns about your child's health. From there, they work with you and your child to explore options and develop a personalized care plan that’s right for your child and your family.
