Trains blowing horns every 15 minutes throughout the night. No ear plugs available - "no management felt we didnt need to order them anymore" when requested at 2am in the morning. Better sleeping and service from sleeping in my car.

What a nice place to stay! Everyone was very friendly and the rooms were very clean! We also booked with the River Runners and had a great experience on the Colorado. Thank you all for a wonderful stay!

What a lovely place! It's tucked into the mountain and surrounded by pine trees. The rooms were decorated so well with a western/elk theme. I thought the room was luxurious. It was great to hang out on the porch in the comfortable twig chairs and watch the elk passing through and locals coming to eat at the restaurant. The restaurant had delicious food and a varied menu. The key lime pie on their summer menu was decadent with it's toasted coconut graham cracker crust and silky lime custard. The gift shop was a cute little store where we checked in and bought souvenirs and ice cream. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect.

Other than a comfortable bed there is not much else to say. Room looked good when we walked in but found hidden evidence of poor cleaning; half eaten bagel on the floor by the refrigerator, uneaten goldfish crackers under the edge of the dresser, smashed coffee cup under the cushion of the footstool, and a dirty washcloth that fell out of the shower curtain. We also had a very poor night sleep despite the comfortable bed because of the train that ran all night directly behind the lodge. There was also no food left on the buffet at 7:55am and we were told it would be an hour for them to fill it. After having dined in their restaurant for breakfast two days before we spent the night we decided not to wait as that experience was so bad. We waited over an hour for our food and the staff on were not at all friendly. It was almost as if they were all ticked off for some reason. We will definitely not return.

Does the hotel/lodge offer storage lockers of any type? Thank you!

I don't think they have storage lockers; you'll have to call and ask them directly. They DO allow you to park behind the hotel if you want to leave your car there for a weekend (if say, you were going on a special hiking trip to blue-green water), so you could store items in your car, covered. I would double-check at the front desk to make sure it's okay though.

The lodge is owned and run by native American tribe. You pay a permit fee to access tribal land. Reservation needed. Lodge is located 3 hours west of the South Rim. The tribe runs its own tourism office, as well as a café, lodge, and general store. Individual members of the tribe also have small businesses, leading tour groups and packing supplies in and out of the canyon.
