As a physician I tend to be very critical in my choice of healthcare, so I spent a lot of time deciding whether to try ketamine for my anxiety, and of course where to go for an infusion. After speaking with Dr. Eshkevari it was clear to me that I had found the best place possible at Avesta. We got into the neurophysiology and pharmacology as colleagues for a while – and her knowledge on that subject and on anesthesia in general is unsurpassed – but it was when we got to my personal struggle, me as the patient, that I knew I had the right doctor. She was deeply caring and kind, understanding of my unique situation, and took the time to really understand my situation. Ultimately, I slowly adjusted one of my medications to allow for the infusion and began my journey toward a more peaceful and lighter life. The staff at Avesta are excellent as well; I felt safe and at ease for my first of many infusions. I noticed a significant lessening of anxiety after the third infusion, about 24-48 hours after the treatment. I could breathe more easily. I noticed a concurrent increased interest in my life. By the end of my induction I felt like my anxiety had been nearly eliminated, with a baseline of 2-3/10 on most days and near 0/10 on some days. The results of Ketamine were profound after induction and clearly better than any other modality I have tried in decades. It’s been almost a year since I started at Avesta and it has changed my life in a way I didn’t think possible. Finding a neurobiology and anesthesia expert like Dr. Eshkevari was a godsend for me, and I am profoundly grateful for being in her care.
