Family member has been there with the intent of being released. They are withholding the Physical Therapy needed for them to be able to walk so they can transition home. They miscalcuated her # of Medicare days and abruptly stopped PT and moved them to the long term care floor. Therapist showed AN AIDE (just one) the PT routine that she was to coninue and never saw anyone assist again. I don't even know if that aide still works there. Frequently told patient no one was getting out of bed due to staffing issues. They had to close a wing because of it as well. Understandable but to withhold care and then tell the family PT would be restored once patient goes 60 days without skilled therapy and THEN claim they did not say that is reprehensible. To go further they admit they have a letter of medical necessity from doctor from almost 3 months ago that the continuation of PT is medically necessary and that is what the patient needs to go home YET will not reinstitute it because they need to see more progress or decline to pick her back up. The translation is that this is abuse. How is a patient to go home or improve when they have to perform their own strengh training exercises and are not always taken out of bed? In a recent meeting it was discovered that strides the patient made were not being updated in the chart, a complaint against an aide was not in the chart and we are now on the 3rd version of why they are not receiving the proper restorative care. There are some people there who truly do care and unfortunately for them and the patients, it places an undue burden on them. The buzzer rings for hours and I mean hours before someone checks on the paitent. During a recent visit the patient waited close to 2 hours before an aide came in. The standard response to emptying the colostomy bag is that they are doing meds and will come back or the nurse is on break. Or you have to wait for a specific nurse to handle the situation. By the time they come back, the bag explodes which is an ever bigger mess to clean and more work and not to mention humiliating to the patient to have to be stripped and cleaned and changed. Staffing in health care, education, etc is a major issue right now, HOWEVER, it should not cause people to be less caring or compassionate. So to those who do their job and care, thank you. To those who are not updating the chart or logging false information or not addressing misstreatment of the patients - shame on you. Get another field. If you have family here for long term care, be prepared to document and record every call and have freqent meetings because their story changes each and every time.

My Aunt has been in and out of their rehab department 3 times within the past year. The rehab team and nursing staff were just terrific! I depended on them to update me on my Aunt since I was not able to visit due to Covid. Everyone I spoke with there were very kind, supportive, and helpful! I was able to reach the staff easily whenever I called. Elaine at the nurses station, who I spoke with on a regular basis, was just outstanding! Dr. Shi called me personally when he had questions about my Aunt’s medical care. I am very grateful to the entire staff on the 3rd floor rehab team!

My mother went from the hospital to this location for PT and overall health. The staff was kind, caring and the doctors and nurses called me regularly to give me updates as well as to discuss treatment. I cannot thank them enough.

My mother was in this facility for almost 1 month. she was released 5 days ago and is back in the hospital. This place is a fraud. Unfortunately, with Covid, we were not able to visit her and she was not able to leave her bed. The social worker, Jennifer Jamieson flat out lied on the phone during our one and only call from The Manor during her entire 30 day stay. Jennifer advised us that my mom was walking 5 steps and able to stand and pivot. According to the ENTIRE MEDICAL STAFF at JSMC, there is NO WAY IN HECK she was standing and pivoting as she has the "MOST SEVERE CASE OF SPINAL STENOSIS" the hospital has ever seen and there is no way she was able to put any weight on her feet, let alone stand and pivot. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES TO THIS PLACE. YOU WILL REGRET IT. RUN FAR FAR AWAY. I already spoke to an attorney as well as Medicare about the treatment she received, or the lack there of. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!
