North Scottsdale Family Medicine (NSFM) was acquired by 4C Medical Group, part of OptumCare, effective March 1, 2020, and that started the downward spiral of this practice. The physicians are wonderful, but they are only as good as the staff. Prior to the acquisition almost two years ago, there were approximately 25 support staff at this practice, now of those twenty-five employees, only four remain. That vast majority of the 21 staff who resigned were due to poor management and the ability to have a more fulfilling work experience elsewhere, where they were appreciated and respected. I know this to be true because I left my position as Chief Operating Officer of NSFM within two weeks of the acquisition. Aside from two of the 25 employees mentioned above, I hired every employee and still try to keep in touch with them because we were "family." That respect and camaraderie were palpable for all that entered our office. We were a true team that did our best for our patients because we honestly cared. In reading the most recent reviews (less than two years), I see that patients have shared negative experiences, which greatly saddens me. Not only did I leave as an employee, but also as a patient and took my family with me. I did not feel we would receive good care because of the turmoil due to the acquisition. We joined Dr. Ruth Eckert's MDVIP practice after she moved July 2021 because I feel so strongly that her philosophy of personalized patient care is the way to go! And, before this is written off as the rumblings of a malcontent, I am grateful for the 16+ years that I had with NSFM and doing my part to build a well-respected practice with an excellent reputation in the community. I have great respect for all the physicians that I have worked with and consider personal friends. But, on the other hand, perhaps I am disgruntled because I feel that the physicians were lied to so they would sell the practice to an organization that, I think, does not put patients' best interest first. 4C Medical Group (OptumCare)'s goal, in my mind, is to acquire more "lives" to garner more funding from Medicare, but "quality of care" is not part of the equation. The physician's hands are tied due to the Executive Leadership who are more focused on profit than good patient care. It pains me that the patients have negative experiences due to poor management of this practice. The high review score is primarily based on the high reviews of NSFM. If there were a way to only look at the reviews made in the past two years, 4C would barely have one star! If you like long waits for your needs to be addressed and poor attention to your care, then this is the office for you! *Please note, this is my opinion based on actual personal experience and views of those who have direct experience as patients and employees before and after the acquisition. Using my freedom of speech, I am trying to warn patients and potential patients that this is not the same practice as NSFM. Please be cautioned and remember Caveat Emptor.

As stated in other reviews, this was a great office. Things have definitely gone down hill, unable to get anyone to answer phone, wait times very long, overcharging for office calls, can't get refill on a common script that the office has filled for years...must come in for office call...time to move on and take rest of friends and family with me.

I don't recommend this 4c medical group I don't know how they got good reviews Their customer service is awful they don't call you back with results and when you call them back to find out about your results they keep you on the line by the time is your turn they hang up on you

Doctors and their staff were very nice and did their job very well
We have very skilled phlebotomists who have many years of experience. Many patients compliment them on their skills. If the patient needs to be in a reclining position for blood draws, we have that option as well.
I see Dr. Paul Babey...been seeing him for years...very good and personable...highly recommend him.
