Always nice to stay here. Site 60 had no trees we could use to tarp our tent though, that was a bummer with the rain! Beach is so pretty and there is a nice lighthouse super close that you can walk up!

This park is awesome as well. I want to give it five stars but the bathrooms are a little outdated compared to other Michigan state parks i have been to. Walks to the beach are short and convienent. They have a playground area for the kids. Some of the spots are really tucked back. I see hammocks in trees with the kids. Foot paths in the trees. This is a heavily wooded park. So beautiful.

One of our favorite state parks. Nice campground in a terrific setting featuring impressive dunes and beach access

Great campground, with plenty to do. Tons of small beach areas to stop at. Whether from the campgrounds, or off the main road, outside the park. Bathrooms are cleaned daily. Grounds are very clean and quiet. Need to really study the map of sites, if you want privacy. Some of them are very close together. None of the drinking fountains are on. I assume because of Covid. Several of the water spigots around the grounds, don't have handles/can't be used. Not sure why?

The park itself is sandy, but, from the Pavilion entrance which has good parking, you can join the beach and move south toward the creek, that direction has excellent banks for rock hunting. Same with just north of the park, follow the highway along the fence of the park and turn when it does, takes you straight to make Huron and a parking space, and hit the beach there and turn North or to your left and it is ungodly amount of treasures. Good luck
6:00 & bring YOUR candy because the City kids come in but it's a good time & very entertaining.
Did not find Petoskey s. horn and chain coral was plentiful.
There's also the historic Sears Roebuck house for rent on the park property as well as a mini-cabin. https://www.freep.com/story/travel/michigan/2015/01/24/travel-michigan-lodge-hoeft-state-park/22168581/
We do, usually costs 10 bucks if your camping.
Thanks for the heads up
