Georgia or Tennessee? We aren't really sure but we were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon the 1885 restaurant for dinner after a Google search because it is near Ruby Falls and Rock City. First, the restaurant had a lounge area with comfy couches to sit in while you wait. Second, we had a super knowledgeable waitress who did an amazing job helping us figure out what to order. Third, the food was amazing. Starting with delicious appetizers followed by an amazing main course. My 18 year old son ordered the 1885 burger and was in awe at the flavor combination. We all had a great time and next time we pass through the Chattanooga area we will be sure to stop by here again.

A bit of a wait. But that's to be expected in tourist area with great food. Hands down, the best macaroni and cheese around. I also had the barbecue chicken (delicious) with greens and cornbread (umm, umm, good). Definitely a must when visiting the area again.

We heard great things about 1885. Even our waitress bragged about how much she loved the entire menu. Unfortunately, we were not as enthusiastic. The fried green tomatoes were the best dish we got, but not our favorite version of this dish. The 1885 Burger and Étouffée lacked flavor. While not a horrible experience, definitely didn’t live up to the hype.

Super tasty meals and plenty of authentic options to choose from. They are a great example of what Tennessee food is at its core, and we are glad to have stopped here for our first dining experience in Chattanooga. The shrimp and crawfish etoufee was so flavorful and had lots of protein and the grits soaked up the flavor perfectly. The gumbo was so hearty and the addition of Okra was an excellent choice. Loved all the vegetable sides we got as well, and if you're wanting to try fried green tomatoes this is the place. The batter on them was crisp and well seasoned and not at all heavy or overbearing.

No reservations necessary we walked up.
There is street parking and a parking lot nearby
Yes, so long as there is ample heads up.
Its a paid parking lot across the street, but it's $2.50 for 24hrs of parking.
