This is my first time using this and everybody say they are good and good on they word of paying a bill so I went up there last Friday to get help on my light bill and today is wednesday and haven’t made a pledge to my electricity company yet and just 40 minutes ago light bill got cut off and yes I am on housing and was getting utility assistance but with my paperwork being all misscrewed I can’t get anything until that is straightened so know I am in the dark with no response I don’t know where to go from here

I applied for rent assistance back in late March.. I didn’t get word back on my case until JUNE. Most times when I called, they didn’t answer.. and if they did, they’d tell me that I was waiting on a case manager to contact me.. and in the end, I was denied rent assistance anyway. My office had agreed to wait, so now I’m even more behind on rent. They did however help pay for electricity.. but what good is that if I don’t even have a place to stay.. They told me I could reapply. I did and they told me they were out of funds. In the amount of time it took them to process my case, I could’ve probably found another place to help but now everyone has exhausted their funds and I can’t find anyone to help.

Do not try to get assistance through this assistance program. The lack of communication is appalling. Empathy is not a word that anyone that works for this place comprehends. I applied for assistance at the beginning of May 2022. It’s now August and I still have not received any help or updates. I constantly get the run around and people passing the buck and empty promises. No one can give me a clear answer on anything. I was told after a month and a half that the case worker that was working on my application no longer works there. I had to call in to figure that out myself. No one reached out to tell me this. Complete lack of concern on their part. Then I was told, that I had to wait until I was to be evicted before my app would get processed. Even when I sent info in proving that I was up for eviction. I still got nothing. I probably called 10-15 times and sent over 20 emails. Ninety percent of those went un answered and the answers I did get were typically one sentence long if that. I was even told by my apartment manager that several people before had tried to use them and never received help. Not as in denied. They just never followed through and helped the people. Dropped the ball on everyone!!! Thankfully I found a church to help get me back on my feet and hopefully I’ll never have to rely on a company like CAPS ever again!! The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had! Do not use this program!!! I would give this place zero stars if Google allowed it!

Yes there's assistance for electric. You can apply online at fortworthtexas.gov/CAP or pick up an application at the nearest CAP office and either mail or fax it in the address and fax number is on the application. I hope this help.

It is difficult to find it, navigate and upload supporting documents. It will be much better/easier just picking up a application or calling the automated number to set a appointment.
Angella You call and a recording give you a choice of which is easiest for you. They only give the ones that has openings. You can wait till they have your place appointment. But if you got a car chose one any one can help you They recorder will tell you what to bring. They open appointments usely the 1st. I think 8 or 9. Try to be early or youll miss out. If you already talked to anyone and sent your paperwork in then call them. Hope I helped. The lady called me back I dont know if they do if your not disabled. God Bless you!
We are an income based program. We do have a rental assistance program.
My daughter needs help with water and electric bills, she is taking care of her father who is a stroke victim, and her husband is the only one working. Total of 6 living in household

If your disabled can they assist with rental assistance for totally disabled !
