This was one of the worst experiences i ever had with a shelter . Firstly we made an appointment to surrender our dog because we had to urgently move and the lady cashed us irresponsible since we couldn't keep our pet . both the lady managers on the phone are absolutely lacking when it comes to customer service. absolutely rude . absolutely disgusting ways of talking to people . anyways they gave us an appointment date later than our move in date so we had a WRITTEN AGREEMENT that our neighbor would watch the dog until we could come back and stop it off (which is what a male staff member told me to ) and they claimed we were abandoning the dog ? and then harassed us repeatedly. and gave us 72 hours to rehome the dog so we did and the girl we gave the dog too ended up bringing him to the shelter bc he didnt get alone with her cats . they called me(the shelter) and said if we didn’t come get him we would be charged with abandonment. i had to send multiple screenshots and proof that we rehomed . and she never apologized and never even once listened to me . i would honestly save your time and energy and go somewhere else . awful staff, untrained , have no sense of customer service .

Not sure what to think about this place. While I hope they have the animals best interest in mind I'm not sure after being accused of things I did not do like abandoning my dog. Don't want to say they're bad people But I have issues of being accused of things I didn't do . That being said My dog It seems to have been well-cared-for. Don't care much for the lady at the counter But like everything else do you research before you go there. However I will say That my dog was gone for 2 months and Change to a been well-cared-for It is unfortunate That people Have to deal with lost animals and rude customers but They have a hard job caring for a lot of animals that are either unwanted mistreated Or anything else. But you shouldn't have to make accusations that you can't backup that's all I have to say

The lady who answered the phone here was so rude and tried to scold me for not being able to keep my cat. I had to hang up on her because of how horrible she was being. Worst customer service I have ever received.

I was attempting to take my cats this afternoon to surrender them because I am moving and I have nowhere to live. I was immediately rudely talked down to by the lady in the front. She’s very rude and not very helpful at all. She was upset as soon as I walked in the building with my cats! I was unaware that i needed an appointment to surrender a pet. Every time I tried to talk she kept talking over me! She is very unprofessional and rude! I wouldn’t recommend going to this place at all!

@April Givins, while a rude way of putting it yes, it's not wrong. If they haven't the money to purchase the dog then they most likely haven't the money to help their elderly mother care for it which will likely be the case. Animals are expensive shots, registration, annual visits, food, gear, are the minimums. It is a costly undertaking. If you want a pet look into real costs of owning one before hand.
You can take them to the animal shelter in your city. Do Google for your address. It's called "surrender." It means that you can't have them and you deliver them to the city so that someone can adopt them.
Im intersed in this cat
Yes! My I have your # to
Is the husky still available ??
I have two cat's home body cat's if you're interested you can take them
Yes is she at the shelter?
Animals come and go from shelters, so there are always new pets. Many shelters including Mesquite and Allen do accept small pets like bunnies, guinea pigs, and I've even seen chickens at a few shelters. It's impossible to say whether there are bunnies available on any given day. Your best bet is to call the shelter and ask, or better yet-- pay them a visit. Mesquite Animal Shelter is open to the public again post-COVID, and so is Allen's shelter. In fact, I just saw several adorable bunnies in need of good homes when I was at the Allen shelter looking to adopt a kitten or young cat about 2 weeks ago. So to answer the question: It's possible that you may find a great bunny at Mesquite!
Honestly if you have a degree in animal science and over eighteen they should bring you in as a manager. If they don't hire you it's their loss. They are extremely busy and could use all the help they can get. 😎
Rat Terrier. He is 7 months old
No
Hi Dolores, thank you for reaching out. Please call the shelter directly at 972.216.6283.
The live release rate is over 90%
shelters usually dont do shots, you'd have better luck going to a vet or Spay Neuter network
You have to be 18
I don't know if they are or not. I went yesterday to find/get a dog. You are more than welcome to go up there/call.
They are closed to the public Wednesdays and Sundays. You can take your dog up there and fill out some paperwork for an owner surrender, but I would call first to make sure they have room and possibly eliminate some of the paperwork. Have you reached out to any rescues?
Yes you can you can leave her as a stray. This location has a fast adoption rate. 😊
I have one, hes all white with a grey spot on his head and 13 weeks old. Has Shots& neutered.
Call tomarrow 11 am
Just come to shelter when we open bring it in a box
Yes
I think there is one there come by and look
Yes
You can go in. I was there yesterday
They are closed Wednesdays and Sundays
and
I believe so, you can call if you like before you go 😊
I have a chihuahua for free
I would Google animal or vet doctor in MESQUITE Texas. See what you come up with. Sometimes clinics run affordable pet care advertising.
I will take them
I have a blue nose pit bull she’s Gonna be 3 soon I just don’t have the time for her no more she just been in the back for the past yrs now.. I stay in mesquite if u are interested for free
You can view all of the dogs pictures on the city web site.
Varies by how they came in. Most are $100. That includes shots and spay or neuter. You can add on a microchip for $10. I highly recommend doing that. Dogs that were already spayed or neutered when they came in are $35. And dogs that are on the Urgent list are half off.
No they don't.
I can text one to you
No, the shelter is not there for entertainment. They allow meet and greets, with a staff member present, to people interested in adopting.
I do have a male siberian Husy 10 month old
Will you foster for rescue?
You would have to file an open records request with the city records department
Sorry you must be 18 or older but you can ask the front desk for a summer job
If you dont have any vet paperwork for her then that proves that you haven't taken care of her and she deserves better. She obviously ran away for a reason. Without proof of ownership you will need to pay to adopt her. At least now she will get vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. PSA, dont get a dog unless you are prepared to provide it with proper medical care, love and attention.
Omg 😲
Closed mon
I have 3 yr old blue nose pit bull if you are interested for free she’s a great dog like honestly..
Please post the dog on www.nextdoor.com. the shelter is already extremely full and they may have to euthanize a dog to make space for that one. Any vets office will scan for a microchip free of charge- even emergency vets.
Call the number for Animal Control.
Of course, just take them during the hours of operation.
You could call and talk to an animal control officer.
Call the animal shelter and ask them to better know what it can be.
Excuse me, what breed are your dogs?
They will take it. No money back.
Do you have a pic?
Around only 25 dollars
Rarely. But yes. On occasion.
Bring the dog to the shelter.
Contact the City of Mesquite web site for a volunteer application. After that is turned in, call the Shelter.
Mesquite will only take the dog if it was found in Mesquite
Nothing
Yes, specially the shelter of City of Dallas and sometimes the adoption is free and includes their shots.
Visit "City of Dallas animal shelter pets for adoption" and you can see the photos.
In the city of Mesquite they rent you the cage for the cats, you only leave a deposit and when you grab the cat, you return the cage and you can give the cat too. Check to see if your city does the same.
You can speak to the inspector of your neighborhood or the city so that they review your case. If you verify that you have your vaccines and they are not aggressive, they leave them.
You could call them. They might be able to come pick him up, or if not, you could take him into their shelter to surrender him. I do believe there is a small fee to help them cover the cost of food and care. I have been to this shelter a couple times and they seem to handle the animals they have very well. They truly care about their charges.
As in surrender them? Only if you are mesquite resident. Please try contacting some rescues first
Mesquite animal shelter theres a vet right next door
It doesn't hurt to ask. I would imagine they would. Just let them know it is aggressive when you call for them to pick it up.
So sad...many go to rescue groups though. They only have so much room, after all. I hate that they get euthanized, but in my opinion, that is better than them roaming the streets with no food, hard to fine water, suffering in the weather, other dogs fighting with them, and no human love. Dogs crave human love, and without it, they are miserable! Its VERY sad that they have to be euthanized, but we have to take into account everything I mentioned.
Why would you take a pregnant dog there to to have her puppies in a shelter...come on !!!
If you bring your dog to the shelter as an owner surrender, they will put your dog to sleep. Not rehome them.
Only takes one click to take you to their website, where that information is readily available to everyone.
