In dealing with multiple companies about my solar needs, not only was Southface Solar the first to get back to me, they handled my questions and requests superbly. Thank you Tracy, especially!

Your reps have no regard or respect for "no soliciting" signs! We run a home buisness and have very barky dogs, which is specifically why I spent money on, and mounted a "no soliciting" sign directly next to the doorbell that they keep ringing! Upon opening the door and gesturing to the sign I am meet with a "ya, I saw it and chose to ignore it" look. This seems to be a regular occurrence for your company since we moved to this area in February, and I'm over it! The next rep who ignores the "no soliciting" sign will be reported to the police and if it happens again I will be contacting an attorney!

The four most common types of solar batteries are: lead acid batteries, lithium ion batteries, flow batteries, and nickel cadmium batteries. When it comes to choosing the best battery for solar power storage, your own personal needs and preferences are the most important factor. Solar panels don’t provide backup power on their own, and when the grid goes down, all grid-tied solar systems are automatically shut off. To maintain power during an outage, you’ll need to install solar battery storage or a backup generator with your solar system. Learn more about solar battery systems here: https://southfacesolar.com/solar-blog/do-you-need-a-generator-if-you-have-solar-panels/
Solar modules are warranted to produce energy for 20-25 years. Over that time period, the cost of electricity from the utility continues to increase, while the solar system produces energy for free. Learn more here: https://southfacesolar.com/residential-solar-installation/

Yes, a solar electric system can increase a home’s value by up to $20,000 for every $1,000 in reduced annual operating costs. Many buyers are willing to pay a premium for a house with solar panels, and homes with solar panels often sell faster than homes without them. You can install a whole home generator if you have grid-tied solar panels and use it to power your home during an outage. However, it’s important to note that your solar panels will not be able to run your generator during an outage. All grid-tied solar panels are automatically shut down when the grid is down to help protect electrical workers and the grid itself. Instead, your generator will be powered by fossil fuels, like natural gas or propane. If your solar panels are grid-tied, you will still receive a statement from your utility company every billing period, even if you do not owe any money. However, your bills will look a little different and it’s important to understand how to read your electric bill with solar. While sunlight is required for solar modules to create electricity, your home will draw power from the utility grid during night time hours. You can install a battery backup system for your home to use at night. This is known as “off-grid”. While batteries are helpful during blackouts, this option is really only necessary for remote homes and cabins that are not connected to the utility grid. Great question! Occasionally, a solar array should be cleaned with distilled water to clear the dust or debris that blocks sunlight and reduces efficiency. That is about all that’s required. There are no moving parts to wear out and solar modules are covered under limited warranty for power output for 20-25 years. In fact, there are solar modules that have been installed 50 years ago that are still producing energy today. With a scheduled yearly service check and quarterly cleaning the life of your inverter and modules can be prolonged. Yes! Solar modules produce electricity on cloudy days, it is just less electricity. As a rule of thumb, if there is enough sunlight to cast a shadow, then solar panels can produce electricity. Of course, in areas where there is abundant sunshine “like Arizona” a smaller solar electricity system will provide as much power as a larger system located in cloudier states. Many residential solar systems are actually grid-tied, which means that during an outage, an automatic safety shutoff will still prevent any power from reaching your home. However, by combining a home generator or solar battery with a grid-tied solar system, you can get the benefits of your energy-saving solar system without having to suffer through another power outage.
Yes, while batteries are best when paired with a solar energy system, batteries can be a powerful and useful tool also without solar panels. The technology used in a solar-battery-storage system can stand on its own and be charged with energy from the grid to allow for backup power, or for avoiding the higher electricity costs that come from time-of-use rates. Yes, the federal solar tax credit, can offer big savings on the cost of going solar. Good news for homeowners and businesses as the tax credit was extended for an additional two years at the end of 2020. Under the new schedule, the federal solar tax credit allows you to reduce the amount of federal taxes you owe by 26% of your total installation costs in 2021 and 2022. And if that 26% is larger than what you owe in taxes, you can roll the remainder over for another year!

Yes, APS offers a great program for solar customers. We can eliminate your electric bill with APS. A payback of 8 or 9 years is common and most of our equipment has a 25 year warranty, making your electricity much more affordable.
The most efficient (and also least space consuming) panels are made by LG and Sun Power. We choose to sell LG because we feel they offer a more solid 25 year warranty, which makes them a great value. We also offer panels from Trina, Longi, and JA, which can save you some of the up-front cost and still come with a 25 year warranty. Our primary goal is to build a system that will produce worry-free power for the life of the system.
