Chantell at Alara was a delight to work with. She’s very knowledgeable about the different artist’s work on display at their lovely store in downtown Bozeman, MT. She was very accommodating, as were the other employees at the store. The store itself was tidy, and had many many beautiful pieces of original jewelry.

My family lives in Bozeman and I have hired Babs to work on a few pieces of jewlery over the years. About 6 years ago I went to Brazil and I purchased this beautiful imperial topaz stone and I held onto it not knowing what I wanted to do with it. When I came to visit my family I dropped by Alara Jewlery with my stone to see if Babs had any ideas. I went back home and left my stone with her. Together we designed the most beautiful ring. I just received it today, and it is absolutely everything I wanted, it is stunning!! It did take awhile to get the ring due to COVID but it was well worth the wait. I highly recommend hiring Babs, she is very talented and trustworthy. ❤️

The staff at Alara is the absolute best. They are incredibly knowledgable and personable. Ask for Chantell - she knows more about jewelry than I ever thought was possible and she will get you the piece of your dreams. Alara is by far the best jewelry store in Bozeman. Highly highly recommend!

Questions & Answers

What are the Covid safety practices like here?

Alara Jewelry | Oct 10, 2021

We are all masked, and require our guests to mask. We conduct meetings for custom work, or other services that require extended time together on either side of a barrier. We limit the total number of guests, and lock the front door as necessary. Jewelry is sanitized and steamed. We offer private meetings on a limited basis for high-risk folks (no other guests in store at the same time). We have hand sanitizer stations in the gallery. We offer curbside pick-up with pre-payment of repairs and purchases.

Hi, do you make a silver soldering?

Alara Jewelry | Oct 11, 2019

Hello Joanna, and thanks for the question. If you are asking if we solder silver, the answer is yes. Price will depend upon us seeing the break or pieces that need to be soldered together.

hey i have some gem that i want to sell but do not know there price. i was hopping you could tell me how much they are worth?

Hi Rozlyn! Thanks for asking. I am completely qualified to perform a Fair Market Value appraisal on your gems, but that expertise comes at a cost. If you want to sell your gems to a jeweler or pawnbroker, however, there is no reason to pay me. You just go from place to place, getting bids. You then get the expertise at no cost, and you will truly find out what the market will bear. We provide “bids to buy” at no charge. You then compare our offer to others, and decide to whom you want to sell. Sometimes (whether us or anyone else), there is no offer, because there’s no interest. If you are hoping to sell your gems to an end consumer (as opposed to a business, then you might perhaps need appraisals from someone with my training, which is a service for which I charge an hourly fee. Best, Babs Noelle

Hi I bought several things on eBay but I am not positive whether they are genuine gemstones or not. Can I bring them ( citrine, diamonds) to your store and get your help with identifying them? How much would it cost? Thank you Beata

Hellow, Beata! Thanks for your question! Yes, I am a Graduate Gemologist, which is what you need for the purposes of identification of gemstones and diamonds. This expertise comes at $100 per hour. If the stones are loose, then testing for most stones is really quite quick...probably about 5 to 10 minutes (so, about $9 - $18 each). Some things are tougher (and therefore take longer), but generally not. That all said, if I can tell the lack of authenticity of something by simply peeking at it, I will not charge anything at all. Since I am the only Graduate Gemologist on staff currently, please be sure to call in advance to set an appointment, or at least to see if I'm working on a given day, and if my schedule will allow a "walk-in." Have a lovely day! Babs Noelle
