Weak union. Workers are underpaid and overworked. They make good money by working insane hours. The first priority of any union should be to improve working conditions, make all OT voluntary not mandatory, and never give up working conditions under any circumstances. There should be WAY more unionized workers, i.e. 3 shifts of 8hrs for every 24h day. Instead of that, they have people working 12-16hrs everyday.

Go to the us steel website and search job opportunities. I'm not sure what positions they have open right now. Depending on your skill and education you may start higher. The average wage with bonuses, OT etc is 60-65k. We had good profit sharing this year which isn't normal but that jumped us up 27k

No museums that I know of, but some of the larger "houses" (boiler houses, blast furnaces, turbo house, Fab shops) are littered with photos of the early US Steel years. I once saw an old book that had incredible pics. Some of the old timers have tons of stories. Officially, you'd have to contact them and ask permission; I wish you luck.
