First come, first serve is awesome! What a perfect spot for retiring to after a hike to the Rabbit Ears. So many flowers. The camp was large and open, but enough trees for shade. There was certainly some road noise, but we feel very lucky to have been able to stay here.

Great place in treeline to camp. Spotted two moose the first evening. Nice and cool during night hours. So worth it.

Some campsites have good shade while others are more open due to beetle kill. Very close to rt 40 and it can be quite noisy with jake brakes of semis driving through the pass. Four star rating is just because of the road noise, everything else was great.

Adventure Zone

Within two weeks my two oldest children moved very far away. Before they left we had one last family outing in this campground. I love the Colorado mountains and I will always cherish the memories they help make. The campsites are level, clean, picturesque and easy to get to.
