The staff members were extremely friendly and patient with my mother. The price was very reasonable as well. The staff power washed the gutters and showed us pictures afterwards of their work. We also had our gutter guards installed and can't wait to see how much that'll make a difference for us in the future. Thank you!

Questions & Answers

I'm thinking of getting the ice dams on my home in Troy, MI removed using a Hot Power Washer. I saw my neighbor getting the ice dams removed using that. Is that more effective than steam machines?

Carlo Miguel Morales | Mar 14, 2022
Lake State Cleaning | Mar 14, 2022

Definitely not. These machines, although appearing similar to steam machines, are the wrong tool for ice dam removal. They aren't hot enough, which will just cost you more money in increased labor time. They use too much pressure, which can damage your shingles and even perforate your roof .They use too much water, which can flood the ground around your home, creating a whole new ice problem.

Hi, there are icicles hanging over the gutters of my home in Troy, MI. I wonder if it's more efficient to get them removed using a chemical? Or is steam better? Help!

Anna Celine Lee | Mar 14, 2022
Lake State Cleaning | Mar 14, 2022

Chemical ice melt products just don't work. They only melt small portions of the ice dam. They take forever to work. The corrosive chemicals can damage your shingles and surrounding landscaping. Our specialized equipment generates 325 F degree steam that quickly and gently cuts through and thaws ice dams.

The outside part of the gutters on my Troy, MI home is dirty. Are you able to clean it?

Kim Frias | Mar 14, 2022
Lake State Cleaning | Mar 14, 2022

Yes we can! It's called Gutter Brightening. What you probably didn’t know is that dingy look on your gutters probably isn’t dirt. It’s most likely oxidization, and that requires a special method for cleaning. And, we are experts on this!

Are the steam machines you use safe to remove ice dams on the roof of my Troy, MI home?

Kim Frias | Mar 14, 2022
Lake State Cleaning | Mar 14, 2022

Yes, Steam machines work at very low pressures (totally safe for your shingles), much lower volumes of water (very little water will actually hit the ground) and much higher temperatures (the ice will melt faster, resulting in less water usage).

Will I still see water overflowing my gutters if I have Raindrop Gutter Guard installed?

Carlo Miguel Morales | Feb 12, 2022
Lake State Cleaning | Feb 12, 2022

It's important to understand that, in cases of extremely heavy rain, ANY gutter protection product can struggle to keep up. It's perfectly normal to see some drainage overflow in the rare case that we get extreme rainfall.

Do I still need to have Gutter Cleaning if I already have Raindrop Gutter Guards?

Kim Frias | Oct 4, 2022
Lake State Cleaning | Oct 4, 2022

Yes. Raindrop Gutter Guards reduce the need for gutter cleaning & maintenance in your Orion Township, MI home, but you should still have at least an annual maintenance cleaning to make sure the tops of the guards are free of debris.

What do professional window cleaners use to clean windows?

Lake State Cleaning | Oct 10, 2021
Lake State Cleaning | Oct 10, 2021

Most window cleaners use a very simple solution for cleaning windows. A mild soap, such as dish soap, is mixed with clean water. This solution, used along with professional window cleaning tools, is very effective and breaking up dirt, debris, and staining on glass surfaces. Many modern window cleaners also make use of a water purification system for cleaning exterior windows. These systems "polish" common tap water so that it's pure enough to dry spot-free. The window cleaner runs this pure water through a scrub brush, scrubs the window to remove dirt and debris, and then thoroughly rinses the surface. This process results in a clean, clear window, with not water spots, drips or streaks.

I have a trex composite deck. The manufacturer says I shouldn't clean it with high pressure. Can you clean it safely for me?

Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019

I power washed my patio, but the stains came right back in a few months. Why did that happen?

Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019
Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019

Power washing alone won't remove the root causes of organic staining. In many cases, the mold, mildew and algae will begin to grow back immediately after you've power washed the surface. Our detergent application, both before and after power washing, terminates organic growth to the root. This not only results in immediately beautiful results but also long lasting ones.

How do I know you actually cleaned out my gutters, without me getting up on my roof to check your work?

Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019
Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019

It's simple- we send you photos of the completed work after we are done. That gives you peace of mind that we did what you paid us to do. We actually take it one step further. Lake State Cleaning is the only company in Oakland County that offers a 14-day No Clog Guarantee. If your gutters develop a problem within two weeks of service, we'll come back and take care of it at no charge.

Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019
Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019

No, yes, and yes. The state of Michigan has no licensing for exterior cleaning. If it did, we would be first in line for a license. We do carry $2 Million in the best General Liability coverage money can buy. And our technicians are covered by an additional umbrella policy and a bonding policy. What causes the black streaks I see on my roof?

Lake State Cleaning | Oct 11, 2019
Lake State Cleaning | Oct 10, 2021

Black streaks on shingle roofs are caused by an algae called gleocapsa magma. This algae feeds on the limestone granule coating that is present on most shingles. Over time, these algae colonies can grow and spread over wide spaces. Their telltale black streaks are most commonly seen on the north sides of most roofs, where extra shade and moisture provide the ideal environment for growth. Our low pressure, detergent based cleaning method immediately and completely removes these algae stains to the root.
