Shalimar took the best pictures I’ve ever had taken in my life for my senior pics! She had tons of great ideas for spots around the city to take pictures- and my studio pics were my ultimate favorite! I’m insecure about pictures and she made me feel super comfortable and beautiful. Shalimar makes an effort to get to know you before your session so she really captures who you are. The book she put together for me of my favorite pictures it’s just amazing! PS- she also brings candy and snacks which is super cute! I’m telling everyone I know to get their pictures taken by her and I will never stop talking about how much I love Shalimar!

Shalimar recently took photos of our daughter for her senior pictures in her studio. We had missed the 'usual' school senior photos which are always nice, but the photos that Shalimar took are exceptional. From the start, Shalimar took time to get to know our daughter through a quick survey of her interests. In the studio, she even had a playlist of some of the songs/artists that my daughter likes to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Pictures and images are so 'charged' for young girls/women these days, but Shalimar really put her at ease and captured her so well. We're forever grateful and can't recommend her highly enough.

I had Shalimar take my daughter’s senior photos and she blew me away!! She picked up on all the “things”. I mentioned how I brought my daughter home from the hospital and the first place we sat was on our porch swing. How I couldn’t believe we were already at senior photos! So, Shalimar’s first photos were on that porch and actually got a few of the two of us on that very swing! She took photos of her on the sidewalk that she learned to walk, ride her bike, host a lemonade stand or two…all the memories wrapped up in these photos. And then explored really beautiful parts of the city that we love. Her attention to detail is unparalleled and the photos are STUNNING. Captured my daughter’s personality and love of life in every photo. We are a happy family!! Can’t wait for my son’s turn (or can I?).

Shalimar was wonderful. She greeted us with a smile and was professional and kind throughout our photo shoot. The location was easy to set, and she was very efficient! it only took an hour or so and the photographs were beautiful. Just what we wanted!

How long your session lasts depends on what type of session you book and who is involved. If you schedule a family session with a newborn, the session can last 2 hours. Newborns need lots of breaks for feedings and changing! If you schedule a session with a baby that is 6 months - 2 years old, your session typically will last about an hour. Older kids can last a little longer and so a session may last a little longer with older children. For high school senior photo sessions - these sessions last 2-3 hours, with many outfit changes
The options for session locations are endless! My natural light studio is always an option. For family photo sessions, your home is a great place to start. Chicago is lucky to have so many green spaces and parks that are beautiful backdrops for photos! And of course, the lakefront and the city itself. I have many spots throughout the city where I love to photograph. I’m always happy to suggest a location, or help you brainstorm locations that are meaningful to you and your family.
My general rule is “comfort is key!” No one wants to get photos taken when they are uncomfortable in their clothes! I also recommend that you and your family stay true to your style so that the images we create reflect who you are. (The same is true for a senior photo shoot!) Once a session is booked I give LOTS of direction and advice in this area!
