Absolute garbage. We set up an apt 3 weeks ago for a bone scan for 3:30 pm. When we got there we were told they closed at 2pm. No text no call to tell us they closed early.

Sad to say if he wouldn't die at home I'd pack him up AMA today bc neglectful. Do not let your loved ones be placed here. My mother was transferred here from Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove and tested positive on day one for Covid so her family could not see her for two weeks. By the time we got to see her we were only allowed one person for one hour per day. This is late July 2022. No other hospital to my knowledge had this protocol. The last precious days of my motherβs life were spent alone. The doctors and nurses are completely desensitized in this place.

This was an absolutely horrible place. My 94 year old father was transferred here to be weaned of the ventilator. He had a stroke and a fall early March which caused bi-lateral injuries to his brain. We were advised by the physicians at Evanston Hospital that this is the best place for respiratory care. The attending also noted that there would be a good neurologist here for my father. The respiratory therapists, wound nurses, a physical therapist and most of the RNs and CNAs were incredible. I can't, however, say the same about the physicians (especially the neurologists and respiratory specialist), manager of his unit, or the attending physicians here. First and foremost, I have never experienced such unprofessional attitude from the specialists. Every time the neurologist would come see my father, she would drop in and stayed no longer than two minutes. Rarely will she make eye contact with us. My father had a trach and we had to constantly push for them to cap it. He had been off the ventilator for weeks, yet when we requested to speak to the pulmonary doctors to calls us, no one would. Only after weeks of requesting, they capped his trach, but again we had to push for them to get a speech therapist in to assess him. My father was not able to speak well as a result of his stroke and he was not able to speak English. We continually asked if they would call us or allow us to come in when they assessed him so that we can translate for him, no one responded. The physician that was caring for him spoke to us in a very condescending tone. At one point, he misread my father's lab. He was dehydrated and no one addressed it until we brought it up. Because my sister and I are in healthcare, we were able to catch the errors and that should not have been the case. The worse came on the day when my father was to be transferred to a skilled nursing facility. That morning, we found a golf size bruise and bump on his head. We immediately brought this up to the staff. The lack of follow up and response was incredibly disappointing. The entire staff was silenced. What was most frustrating and upsetting was when the RN on staff attempted to put the blame on my father. She tried to say he hit himself on the bed rail. That is nearly impossible given he was not able to move, there was matting around the rails, and the bump was circular in shape. The wound nurse later assessed and he agreed that something hit our father's head. Even if it was an accident, at most, we expected an apology. Yet we got nothing. No report was written up. Management did not even come to speak to us. I find this to be very concerning and highly unprofessional. This speaks loudly to the level of care from this institution. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The security guards were more pleasant and caring than any of the direct patient care staff members. If you have to bring your love ones here, I would caution that you be there for all allowed hours to watch over your love one.
