Went for a belt making class and some shopping. Previously I had only shopped for leather online. The experience of shopping for leather in-store surrounded by like-minded customers and employees is something you cannot get online. All employees were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. The store was well stocked and had a huge selection of oil tan, chrome tan, and vegetable tan leather. The in-store selection of tools and hardware is unrivaled. The class itself was very informative and hands-on. Our instructor, I believe his name is Zack, was great.

Super helpful and a really great place!

Good prices and quality leather. The guys at the counter answered all of my questions and recommended some other things I would need to get my project done. If I need leather in the future this is where I'm coming.

You would be much better served contacting the store directly. It is rare that a store will monitor a site such as this. If Tandy cannot help you may want to check out Springfield Leather Company.
They do sell packages of scraps, I'm not sure what the bases of making the packages is however. The pieces are not to big but are big enough to make a small project, practice on or to make dye "chips" for sample colors or to make adjustments if you are mixing dyes. Oh and by a small project I do mean small, as in a slip case of a pocket knife or a standard cell phone not in a case.
It's sold by square foot.
