Didn't think this would be interesting, but went with a friend who wanted to go. Jack, the volunteer who showed us around the freighter, made the trip extremely informative. He had worked on the tug boat that is also on display, and had an infinite number of personal and anecdotal stories about the freighter, tug boat, and Great Lakes shipping history. Worth calling ahead to see which day he is volunteering!

We don't have any requirements, but we would recommend comfortable walking shoes and recommend against any shoes that might easily slip off of your feet.
I think, if memory serves, they had information about how some of the ships on the lakes were used during war times, though.
The historic tugboat Ohio (launched in 1903 as a fireboat) is now open for guided tours. It is in the process of being restored.
This is a long term volunteer based project that will hopefully show beautiful results next spring.
$15 with the boat included, if open. Without, is $11. Also discounts available.
No, the museum is a private non-profit organization.
