Slate Canyon is the wonderful, often overlooked, jewel of Utah County. See for yourself, it's quick and easily accessible if you just want to see a great view of the valley or want to go for a lovely hike. It's all right here

Currently, we use this mostly as a starting point for the Bonneville Shoreline, but there is always an option of going up Slate Canyon, especially if you're looking for cougars (the cat, not the lady). The only downside is the parking but there's only so much you can do. There are a couple tiers of parking available but if it is super busy, you may be stuck on a road and hiking to your hike. We all know how close we want to park to the gym door when we're going in, why would a hike be any different!? Overall, a great place.

If you go up high enough you can find camp grounds where theres been make shift fire pits created. Ive personally built my own fires up there but am unsure of the legality of it.
