An amazing area for camping and hiking! Tons of great trails for mountain biking and spots to camp as well.

Buffalo peak is an easy trip to get a wonderful view of the Utah valley. The road up until hope campground was just freshly paved and very smooth. After that it was a very dusty and bumpy drive. Overall it was a wonderful easy experience.

Questions & Answers

It says it closes at 9:00pm, is there a gate that blocks it off or is open for a sunset hike?

There's no gate. I was there well past 10 PM.

I've heard the trail head for Buffalo peak is hard to find. Where should I park for easiest access and how will I know I'm in the right spot to start the hike?

Easiest trailhead to use is the overlook. Take the trail along the front if the foothills. Shortest is to drive along forest road 027 until you can see Buffalo Peak to the west across a meadow. Park and walk west across the meadow to the trail. Continue south on the trail until it turns west and gets steep. Less than a half mile that way.
