Check your statements guys. When AES took over in 2021, they automatically switched us to autopay for an account that had been closed for well over 3 years. We were being charged an additional $22 every time a “check” was returned (meaning the account couldn’t be charged because it was closed). They didn’t flag this, nor document this on any of our statements. We literally had no idea. Had to find out the round about way and call the company.

I've lived in the same house for 16 years. I never once had a power outage until AES took over. Now I have them all the time, at random times of the day, for no reason at all. No bad weather, nothing. But they continue to send that bill with made up prices. I'm contacting my lawyer. I feel like something has to be able to be done about them.

I HATE aes more than anything. I’ve called and called many times to get no where. They are constantly turning power off and on. At least twice A week we have issues with our power going off and on. I wish there was a better company in the city for electricity. When you have a family member on oxygen you can’t count on a company like AES. They are trash. Thank God we won’t have to deal with them much longer since we’re moving! I feel bad for anyone who has to use them. We’ve been at our house for 24 years and never had this kind of issue until AES took over. Worthless.

I have dangerously low power lines and they refuse to come fix them. Not to mention don’t not have an account with IPL. I am a renter who pays AES. IPL shut off my power for an entire weekend. I didn’t have an outstanding balance with AES, I pay on time. I lost all the contents in my fridge and was freezing the entire weekend. I couldn’t get ahold of anyone over the weekend to assist or get an explanation why they shut off my power. Someone came and turned it on on Monday. This is unacceptable. I lost hundreds of dollars worth of food. No one should go without power.

I totally agree the worst very bad and expensive experience with this so called power company that you have know other options but to use in Marion county.. the Worst.

They usually have you pay a deposit if you have past due bills that has not been paid

Not all of them. I believe you are given 2 led bulbs to be replaced but go on our website and do a search for a home assessment and you will be able to find the answer.
You'll need to create an account with IPL directly. The disconnect from the previous account is not your name, so it won't be an issue.

Not it will not. If you receive a letter from ipl you have 24 hrs to make the payment good. Otherwise your service will be disconnected.
It all depends. If you have a smart meter with 5 minutes if it's a manual meter than our employees have until 9pm to reconnect.
